“Perfect location ”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014

This hotel is perfectly located: across the street from 40+ food trucks, short walk to river, steps from the pearl district. We were thrilled. Service was excellent. Clean, nice decor, relaxing lounge for drinks. I wouldn't stay anywhere else!

Hotel is centrally located to restaurants, theater, Pearl District, business offices, and food trucks. Has a boutique feel with full Westin services and resources.
Hotel staff is unsurpassed in friendliness, knowledge, and willingness to help.
Convenient and attractive privately managed bar and restaurant within hotel.
Definitely recommended for business or pleasure.
My wife and I recently stayed here for a week and enjoyed every minute with the
hotel and staff.

What a wonderful stay! My husband is a frequent traveller and a Starwood Platinum member and set up a surprise anniversary weekend stay here! I couldn't be more impressed with the service and the suite! We received a fabulous bottle of champagne and a thoughtful card from Nic! Great recommendations from Nicole for wonderful outings and restaurants in the Portland area! Thanks for making this an anniversary to remember!!

The Westin Portland is a nice but not outstanding Hotel in the heart of downtown Portland. I stayed here for 4 nights on a business trip in late June.
Location: The hotel itself is well located in downtown Portland. Unfortunately the conference I was attending was across the river at the convention center. While this wasn't awful and only a 15 minute trip by light rail, it was not terribly convenient. I thought about walking but was advised against this by the hotel staff. Also I was a little creeped out by the amount of homeless ppl and pan handlers in the city. I have lived in Chicago, NYC and Washington DC and only DC comes close.
Room: I was initially placed in a corner room on the 4th floor. Unfortunately there was a whistling coming from a broken window that I knew would drive me crazy. Thankfully the front desk staff was able to find me another room. The room was relatively large, well appointed (although not fancy) and quiet. Standard flat screen TV with the usual SPG channels. The bathroom was quite large although there was no tub only a walk in shower. The shower had a tiny amount of mold around the lower edges but nothing terrible (I'm not a big mold person, but if it grosses you out, this could be a big deal). Weirdly the shower was very dated, framed with metal instead of a modern "frame-less" design, even though the rest of the fixtures looked very up to date.
Service: I thought the daily maid service was perfectly acceptable, no nighttime turn down (this isn't a St Regis). The front desk was friendly and as mentioned moved my initial room without issues.
Food: There is free coffee in the lobby in the mornings. I did not use the restaurant or room service at any time.
Overall this was a perfectly serviceable hotel but I thought it was somewhat expensive (even for the "reduced" conference price) and lacking compared to really nice Westins I've stayed at.

Our room was an oasis in the middle of the city. We enjoyed our stay, and hope to return soon! Luxury, peace and quiet...The Westin is a beautiful place!! The Daily Grille downstairs had the most amazing ahi tuna tostadas and margaritas for happy hour!! We also appreciated that they are pet friendly!!

Room Tip: Our room on the 12th floor was super quiet and the king bed was true comfort!

Our goal is to provide an experience that is both renewing and rejuvenating. We want our guests to leave feeling better than when they arrived. Based on your feedback, I am delighted to hear that we achieved our goal. Hopefully your Pup was able to enjoy our Heavenly Dog Bed and pet amenities. The Daily Grill has an amazing Happy Hour offering. I would encourage you to try their Bloody Mary offerings as well as their Eggs Benedict.

The rooms were excellent and the service from the staff was top notch. The parking is $37 per day (no self-parking) but there is a deck nearby for $25 overnight (still expensive but beats $37!). Really clean and comfortable hotel-even ran into a popular music group touring that stayed here as well so clearly it's pretty nice!

Thank you for sharing your experience. I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay, and that the teams passion for hospitality was evident in the service they provided. Great tip that you shared with respect to parking. Due to the limited parking we are only able to offer valet, so great to hear that you were able to find something close by that better suited your needs.

Smack in the middle of the central business and downtown shopping district in Portland and one block away from the famed food truck lot (which I was dismayed to find is closed at night). Pearl District is brisk 3 minute walk away. The extensive light rail service is a half block away. Really can't get more central for a hotel - not saying that all of Portland's attractions are located "downtown", but if you want/need to be in the center of Portland's tall buildings, this hotel is perfect for that.

One complaint that is common to well-located, high-end hotels located in the middle of central business districts: parking rates are kind of ludicrous (I think it was $30+ for overnight valet).

Also, if you manage to get a room that has one of those interior doors into the adjacent unit (meant for families sharing two rooms), even if the doorway is closed off, you can still hear the next room pretty clearly, which can be pretty disturbing.

Room Tip: You can sometimes land this hotel through aggressive Priceline bidding (e.g. $100 a night), although...

Thank you for taking a moment to share your feedback. I am pleased to hear that you were able to take advantage of our great location and soak in all that Portland has to offer. It continues to surprise me that the carts near the hotel close so early, however the team at the desk can direct you to some late night pods that still have a great selection. Parking in Portland is a challenge for sure. I suggest to guests to keep an eye out on our website as we have some great packages that include the price of parking. Also, I would like to assure you that we continue to work on the noise challenges presented by connecting rooms and will continue to work diligently to find a solution. Feedback is a gift, and I am grateful for yours. I do hope to welcome you back soon and in a room with no connecting door.
