“Surprisingly nice stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

My hubby and I stayed here for an anniversary get-away. We normally stay at Hotel Vintage Plaza, but my husband wanted to try Priceline. We got an amazing deal at $81 a night. I prefer boutique hotels so wasn't thrilled when a Westin popped up, but ended up being pleasantly surprised.
This Westin is smaller than most so has the feel of a boutique hotel. It was remodeled 3 years ago so is still in good condition and stylin'. Amazingly comfortable beds like all Westins. Large beautiful bathrooms. No tub but huge rain shower-type shower head. Nice lobby bar area.
Friendly staff especially the doormen/valets. I often judge a place by those guys and the Westin did not disappoint there. The hotel even had a bottle of Oregon Pinot waiting for us in the room as they knew it was our anniversary. They even stored our dinner left -overs in a fridge for us the day we were leaving while we headed to brunch.
I would stay here again and that is a ringing endorsement.

Happy Anniversary to you and yours. Thank you for offering some insight into the renewing experience you had over your anniversary. We strive to provide a great Westin experience that is unique to Portland. I am delighted to hear that the team at the front did not disappoint, and that you found the Heavenly Shower, and Beds to be rejuvenating. I do hope that when you next travel to Portland, you again choose to stay with The Westin Portland.

I have stayed at many Portland hotels and this is in my top two. (The other being the Hotel Monaco). Very well located a quick walk to all of downtown Portland. Nice decor, quiet, extremely helpful friendly staff! Our room was very nicely done and included cozy robes.

The only reason this is not my #1 in Portland is that the decor at the Monaco is so much fun and the rooms are typically very spacious with a sitting area. But this is a great choice and better than the Paramount which is right around the corner (no comparision, Westin is better).

Our trip was a brief one, but very enjoyable. We enjoyed our stay and the staff was very friendly. The room was clean and nice.

On the negative site though they seem to charge for everything, and even though we did not purchase any of the additional options (like internet access) they still found it acceptable to charge us after we left for no reason? Called, and got a VM. Am still waiting on a reply.

Thank you for taking time to share you experience at The Westin Portland. It’s great to see that you enjoyed the location, rooms and that the team met your expectations. Hopefully you left feeling renewed. Pricing is something that we constantly work on and by no means do we want you to feel nickel and dimed. Our loyalty programs offer great benefits such as internet and cocktails as a way of adding value. This is something that we continually review and adjust based on guest feedback. It is our hope to not only provide renewing service, but to add value to your stay. I am sorry to learn of the error in billing, and you should feel free to contact me directly to resolve this issue at 503-402-8720 or matt.tronsdal@westin.com .

We stayed at the Westin, Portland at the end of March and had another wonderful visit at a Westin property.
As soon as we pulled up the service was fantastic. From the doorman, to the front desk staff, to the servers in the restaurant, everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely and even though we were on the busy street side on the 6th floor, the noise from the traffic didn't bother us.
As with all Westin properties, the room was very modern and the bed was heavenly. The location couldn't have been better in the heart of downtown and right across from a block of food carts. We were able to walk everywhere and the hotel was always close by.
We would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: If you don't want to hear any street noise we recommend requesting a room on a higher floor and...

I had a wonderful week-long stay at this boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Portland. Beautiful room, great view, comfy bed, and a huge bathroom with a "rain" shower - and oh yeah, a tub! Maybe I'm easily impressed, but what normal hotel has a tub? Even the bathrobe seemed softer than usual.

The Daily Grill restaurant / bar downstairs was also top-notch. Friendly, convenient, and trendy without trying too hard - one night (Tuesday, I think) we were surprised to walk into a tasting of local flavored vodkas and complimentary snacks. I don't think it was open to the public, but they welcomed us anyway. The whole experience was positive and effortless, especially compared to the dinner we had at the overly trendy (and strangely Southern themed?) hotel deLuxe.

This was my first time in Portland, so the Westin's central location also paid off. The nearby food trucks are fun to explore, and we enjoyed a good traditional seafood meal at Fred's down the street. The front desk staff as well as the valets were always helpful giving directions with a smile.

What else can I say about this place? There's Starbucks in the room! Not that you need it; Public Domain coffee is right next door, but it's just one of the many little details that make up the lovely Westin Portland.

Thank you for the kind words. It's wonderful to hear that you had such a great "Portland" experience, and took in all that Portland has to offer. The new Heavenly Shower with the rain head is an amazing new addition to the Heavenly products Westin offers.

The tasting of local spirits is our Pairing Party, and is offered to our SPG and frequent travelers. It is a fun way to connect us to our guest, them to Portland, and to their fellow road warriors. Our hope is to create a sense of community amongst our guests and offer unique SPG experiences.

Our goal at The Westin Portland is to have you leave feeling better than when you arrived, and to provide you the chance to be at your best. I am delighted to hear that the team delivered on those goals, and hope to have the chance to welcome you back when you return for some of those delicious food carts.

This is an excellent hotel. The service is fantastic and the rooms are modern and clean. The staff is very friendly, and it's not the fakey friendly either. The hotel is centrally located and just a short walk to restaurants and shopping. Awesome place, which I will return to during my next trip to Portland. By the way, the showers here are just great. Heads the size of dinner plates!

This recently renovated centrally located property is one of our favorite Starwood locations anywhere. Not a huge hotel which gives more of a boutique feel and atmosphere. Extremely friendly and helpful staff...special note to Cody at the front desk. Early morning coffee available in the lobby ala the Four Seasons or a Ritz....in fact this hotel was on par with those much pricier alternatives. Of note you can find meter parking on the street and save the big on site tab $35.
