“Nice place after all”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2014

Was a little intimidated by the previous reviews on trip advisor. We checked in late to main hotel. Was offered upgrade to suite in main hotel or room in newer Hotel across the street. Opted for suite in old building. It was wonderful and completely re-done. Bathroom was a little small, but nice and clean. Breakfast was delicious. Great location. Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Higher floor

This hotel is in a great spot downtown. We walked to everything such as the Willamette River, Powell's bookstore, and Keller Auditorium. My only negative comments would be the fact that there are actually two buildings which was confusing at first, and as others have mentioned the bathroom is small. The shower/tub is fine but the position of the toilet might make it difficult for larger people to use.

I travel a lot on business and one thing that is always a worry is whether I will get a good night's sleep. Of course one can always choose a hotel along way out of the city but as I like to walk or use public transportation as much as possible I prefer a city center location. So I was delighted when I walked into my room at the Hilton to find a spacious and well appointed room where the outside noise was barely audible.

The location couldn't be better. One of the trams (light rail) lines in Portland runs at the front of the hotel and two other lines run a block away to the side giving excellent access to the airport, conference center and all parts of Portland. During my stay the weather was hot so I had the airconditioning on pretty high without the intrusive noise one often experiences with a/c.

One small criticism was the breakfast available at extra cost which, at $18 for an unexceptional buffet was, I thought, a little over priced. The restaurant staff though were very pleasant and helpful.

If business takes me again to Portland this hotel would be where I would want to stay.

My wife and I loved our stay in Portland. The room was quiet and comfortable, with a good view of the city. It's a good location to see the sights in the city, and not far from the zoo and gardens, but we did have to drive there. The street car and MAX are within walking distance, which was great. The only negative was that I had to pay for WiFi and parking. Not totally out of line, but I didn't expect it.

The location was great, service was great, but not worth the cost!

For a hotel that is this expensive, I wasn't happy that you had to pay for internet service on top of the outrageous hotel fees. On top of it, I am a Hilton Honors Guest and as an Honors Guest they advertise free internet service to all Hilton Honors Guests -- so in that sense alone they are False advertising !

The Bathroom was the worst ! NO where to put ANYTHING --- unless you closed the toilet seat to put some of your toiletries on --- very very small !

The bed was comfortable but I would never stay here again!

If you want to be downtown with easy access to both the tram and walking distance, then you are golden. This hotel has smaller rooms, but this may be a city wide norm. The service I received was average at best. Pretty typical middle of the row hotel. Good value, decent food, good location.... just good.

Just returned from another stay at the downtown Hilton...a great staging area for Fourth of July/Riverfront Blues Festival activity. My original review still stands: It's a great place to camp out, especially if you snag a corner room with all those windows. The halls and guest rooms have been refurbished since last summer, so the property is looking fresh, fashionable and super clean. The location is wonderful: perfect for anyone who loves downtown shopping or has concert tickets for the Schnitzer, or who wants to explore the Oregon History Museum and the wonderful Portland Art Museum. They are steps away. I suggest hitting Elephant's Deli just a couple blocks north for an affordable and delicious breakfast. Park your car across the street in an independently owned structure to be economical. (For two nights it meant a total savings of $30.00 for us!)

Room Tip: Corner Room. Corner Room. Corner Room.
