“Nice hotel in a great city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2012

I recently stayed at this hotel for the second time in two years. It is a fairly standard issue Hilton with comfortable, functional rooms. What really stood out for me during both visits was the staff. Everyone, from check in to check out, was uniformly pleasant, efficient and helpful.

The hotel itself is in two different buildings. If you are attending a conference, opt for the main building as that is where most of the conference rooms are located. If not, the rooms in the Executive Tower (in the next block) are nicer. The only bar is located in the Tower as well, if that is an issue.

The hotel is in the heart of the city, close to Nordstroms, the flagship Columbia store and walking distance from a number of good restaurant and more eclectic shopping. Portland is a small city and easy to get around on foot or via the free tram system.

Two quibbles....the light in my bathroom was terrible and dim and the elevators could seem very slow at peak times.

Room Tip: The Executive Tower has nicer rooms.

Pleasant stay in at a great location. We stayed in the Executive tower. The hotel was clean and quiet, which are pretty much the most important qualities for me. The staff was friendly enough, but nothing spectacular. The room lacked a fridge/mini bar, but otherwise, the room was well equipped.

The location is close to major shopping and is in the center of downtown, steps to public transit.

We spent a long weekend in Portland, the Hilton was great!
I would recommend that if you can, you should upgrade to the newer Hilton Towers (separate building across the street from the main(older) Hilton building.
Thanks to the location, you have easy access by fot and tram to most parts of central Portland with many great restaurants.
The main building offers renovated rooms with nice beds, but you can tell that the building is dated.

Just recently spent two days at the Portland Hilton where my son and I were in town for NCAA tournament games. Hotel is located in the center of downtown with convenient access to a lot of nice restaurants, shopping and the MAX, Portland's transit system. Our room was a typical Hilton layout and appeared newer and quite tidy. Check-in was quick and employees we encountered were very friendly and appeared to appreciate us being there. Starbuck's is just across the street. Valet parking $27 per night. They have a very nice indoor pool area which is nice in a city location. We scored what I thought was an excellent rate, $85, on Last Minute Travel. All in all I would recommend this property for business or pleasure and pool makes it nice for families.

Room Tip: There can be a little street noise so higher up probably better. Floors go up to low twenties. Cit...

My daughter and I just stayed there while we were in town for a show. I searched and searched for reasonably priced hotel in the downtown area and after finding only one (which was frightening looking) we opted to SPLURGE for an evening. Boy am I glad we did. We looked at the Marriott since it was closer to the venue, but my daughter (being a teenager) was all about the Hilton name. Soooo glad we made the splurge. We paid $9 for an upgraded room across the street at the Executive Tower. Very nice! Service was excellent! My only negative was we really wanted a pool/hot tub, which the Executive Tower doesn't have (pool only), while the regular Hilton across the street has both.
If you go, get a package that includes self-park. It's about $20 extra, but totally worth it. The Marriott didn't offer that (and our room with parking was priced the same as theirs without) so staying there would have cost an additional $30. Only 9 blocks to the Keller Auditorium. Felt VERY safe walking back to the hotel after the show.

Room Tip: Executive tower is VERY quiet on the odd number side of the hall as it sits in a "U" shape...

We were very disapointed in the Hilton, while thelobby is grand with a great staircase and plenty of room to sit the rooms were very disapointing. I would recommend staying at the downtown Marriott, it has nicer rooms and a better location.

I've stayed in this hotel during 3 separate trips and had zero complaints. Great area with lots food and shopping nearby. Had nothing bad to say about the hotel. Bar in the lobby was very well stocked and even made a drink that was not on the menu for me. Breakfast in the restaurant was above average and service friendly. Guest services person was having a bad day but took care of business quickly. The other visits were very friendly and informative when questioned. Self parking not too bad. Valet parking outstanding and worth the extra few bucks. Rooms very well taken care and comfortable. Nice view from above. Exercise area very nice. Again, stayed here 3 times and wouldn't hesitate to add a 4th.

Room Tip: Stay in the Executive Tower.
