“Extra charges from hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

Stayed here last year and gave a favorable review. Good review again but would again mention that the valet charge is $32.00 per night, no where else to park and wireless chage is $9.99' come on Marriott, there really shouldn't be a chage for wireless when the rooms are already over $300.00. That's a bad mark from me.

Otherwise....good stay,good sleep, good location.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. For a nominal charge I was able to upgrade my room to a fantastic view. Internet wifi worked well. Food options in the hotel itself were great. Close to city center. Took the train from airport (Trimet) to short distance away from hotel and walked there, all for 2.50.

Green Features: Was surprised there were no recycle containers in room though there was one near elevators.

It was a great deal, excellent location. It was walking distance to PSU where I had a conference. It was also on the MAX/StreetCar line and could easily have taken that as well. We had a view of the river and there was a great walking trail to many choices of restaurants within a 5 minute walk.
Thursday night they had a great beer/wine smores social which was really fun. Super friendly staff.
Towels were always stocked at the pool and they had toys for kids at the pool which was great. It was too bad other guests abused those.
The room was quiet and convenient, with a kitchen and refrigerator.
Despite what I read elsewhere about breakfast being a "zoo", we didn't find that at all. There was plenty of room at the tables all three mornings, great options that included fresh fruit and protein.
The staff overall was very helpful.
My only minor negative was the cost of parking. But anywhere in Portland parking had a cost.
Would definitely recommend; particularly for government employees.

The biggest plus for this hotel is its team. Very friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to assist in any way they can.
The location is also very good on the river waterfront.
The hotel overall, however, is in need of refurbishment. The rooms, spotlessly clean, are very dated. Air conditioning is antiquated, and there is no safe in the room!
My overall experience was positive, however, if the hotel is refurbished, it would be an exceptional establishment.

Room Tip: Get a room on an upper floor (less traffic noise) on the river side. You will have an excellent view...

For the price you pay I would expect a much better experience. The rooms were a good size but the AC is out of date compared to other hotels out there. Whenever it turned on it sounded like what a portable AC unit would sound like....loud. You can't plug in external devices to the TV except for a laptop (it's 2014!!!).

We found the location of the hotel is to far out of the way from the hip and happening central downtown and always found ourselves walking or taking city transit. It's a good location if you to walk/run on the paths near the river. Also, the hotel is located near a very busy intersection so expect a ton of noise so if you're a lite sleeper you may be sluggish the next day.

Of course be prepared to pay top dollar for valet and in room wi-fi. If you love your vehicle you may think of self parking. We did valet and when we checked out there was a door ding. Nothing makes me more mad then door dings but what can you do since how can you prove it was the hotel staff. I just know I didn't have it when we checked in as I inspected my vehicle after the last hotel we had valet.

So would I stay here again....absolutely not.

No concierge but very helpful desk staff. No safe in room. Room clean, bed comfortable. Quality toiletries. Easy access by foot or streetcar to most of the town. Easy access by mass transit to the airport. What else can I say to meet the 200 word minimum?!?!

I stayed here this weekend on an overnight to see a musical at Keller Auditorium (where touring shows play and I have seen Wicked in the past.) I chose it because it is a block away from the theater and saves you the chaos of jammed parking garages as everyone heads home.

The hotel is clean, well-maintained and across the street from the waterfront. It is a great place for walks and seeing the river. If you want to be right in the shopping you will need to walk maybe 5-7 blocks but it is easy.
