“wonderful service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

I had wonderful service after have a bad experience at a different Hotel in Portland. The room was great except not much room between the end of the bed and dresser. The complementary breakfast was fantastic. Really couldn't ask for a better stay.

A good location if you don`t mind being a few minutes outside the city. The rooms were comfortable and generally clean (although we did find a food wrapper behind the lounge chair). There are several family type restaurants within a block or two. Although there were some big box sporting goods and furniture stores in the area, but no general merchandise or grocery stores that we found. The hotel backs on to a large soccer field complex which was a good place to stroll. The rapid transit line into the city is just a 5 minute walk from the hotel.

The Days Inn in North Portland is very conveniently located right off I-5. We only spent one night here, but it was the best of the 3 motels on our trip. The rooms are very clean and comfortable even though I would say they put too many pillows on the bed. A micro-fridge comes with the room. This location is probably a bit more hotel than motel. The continental breakfast is really good and has a lot more items than some other places. Cereal, yogurt, fruit, juices, milk, and biscuits and gravy are just some of the food you can get. There are restaurants nearby too which is good. The only negatives were the check in process and the parking. The check in process was fine but the girl who checked us in had no emotions or personality. Not a good first impression. The lady who checked us out was better. The parking lot could be a better too. Most of the spaces right outside the doors are for the handicapped which is fine, but the few remaining ones it feels like you have to squeeze into them or navigate into them carefully. If you can't, then you're stuck with some of the outer spaces. The lot just doesn't seem to planned right. With our AAA discount, the stay was well worth the price. I would stay here again.

I have stayed at this place many times, this year's experience came with one problem, that was corrected, with "we are sorry" they made it a positive, and I retained my excellent feelings about this place. Yes I will be back. One of the nice things is they don't hover over you, the room wonderful, the breakfast super. I need a place that I can arrive early where someone doesn't complain, have breakfast when they say they will, and get answers when needed. Thank You

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces the back, this way when you wake up you are looking at a lovely green fiel...

Looking around the Internet I was shocked at some of the poor reviews this hotel received. We stayed one night and my daughter stayed free. We received free WiFi (which all three of us used and you pay extra for at some hotels), a clean comfortable room, and a continental breakfast that went WAY beyond continental. It not only included the standard coffee, tea, juice, cereal, and baked goods but it had biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, waffles, french toast, yogurt, fresh fruit, and hard boiled eggs. I would have spent 30-40 bucks at a restaurant on all of the food we ate...about half of the hotel bill. We had been hiking earlier in the day and half of our clothes ended up muddy so the laundry facilities were badly needed and reasonably priced. There was even a little mini mart attached to the hotel with reasonably priced detergent, softener, food and other necessities. There is a decent selection of restaurants within walking distance and the Portland International Raceway is within walking distance with downtown Portland being just a 10 minute drive and some great outdoor recreation within another short drive. There were no foul odors, the decor is a bit dated but nothing too terribly bad, the floors of the laundry room and mini mart could have been cleaner but the machines were clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful, it was quiet enough for a day nap and goodnights sleep and there was also a weight room that we didnt use but looked impressive. My only suggestions....and I call them suggestions because I'm not complaining...would be to secure the back entrances so that only guests and employees can get in, new matresses, and a pool. There was a bit of a wait for the dryers in the laundry room and I noticed that the people using the facility before me weren't guests and were sneaking in to use the laundry. Our mattress was a bit bouncy but not unbearable and who doesn't love to have the option of swimming while on vacation? When visiting the Portland area we will use this hotel again and now that I know they take dogs, I may bring my schnauzer along next time.

Room Tip: Room 144 is close to the laundry room and next door to the weight room but still quiet.
