First of all--our guide told us both that there are no Shanghi tunnels--but your add mentions that we will see them.
Second--we walked around above ground for an hour and a half on a two hour underground tour.
Third--our guide never stopped talking and sharing his biases for an hour and a half.
Fourth--a couple on the tour kept heckling the guide and aside from just continuing on the guide had no strategies to get the hecklers to quit.
Fifth-- there was no humor.
Sixth--we walked away after an hour and a half disturbed by the rude hecklers, the misinformation and biased approach, the less than engaging "resident expert",and the lack of underground in the underground tour. The tour wasn't finished, but we were. I expected a more engaging and enjoyable time -- as did the well informed teenage Portland native with me. The stories were dry and too long with basically not much to see underground.
If nothing else rename the tour if what we got is what the company wants to provide.
This review is not what I expected of my experience. But, I feel compelled to share it so others make sure they know what to expect.
The best part--being with family and the aroma of voodoo donuts!
On another note the Epicurean tour is terrific! Not just because of the delicious taste treats but because of all of the interesting bits of information -- ecological considerations of the businesses and highlighting Portland's diverse people and businesses. Net resting and engaging!

Thank you for taking the time to post feedback on our tours. We're pleased that you loved the Epicurean but are equally saddened to hear that you were disappointed by the Underground Portland tour.
It sounds like - for the most part - you got one of our guides on an "off" day ("no humor"? Ye gads!). We work hard with our guides to ensure highly entertaining commentary without scripts. The upside of this is you get fresh, personal, "real" perspectives on the seedy side of Portland. The downside? On an off day, anyone can fall flat. Sounds like this is what happened, and we apologize.
We do want to clarify that the website, brochures, and everything else we use to describe and market our tours is very clear that the tour is 2/3 to 3/4 above ground and streetside. The "Underground" moniker describes not only the physical but also the political, criminal, social and otherwise nasty "underground" worlds of this now-fair city.
We only wish you'd taken as much time to share what you liked about the delicious Epicurean Excursion as you did to list what disappointed you on the other. But we do appreciate the feedback - it helps us focus on the occasional problems that inevitably arise when you run 40+ tours per week. We'll work with the guide to make sure it's corrected in the future.
