“Great view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

Fun trip. There is much to see on the trip down from the top. While at the top, be sure to walk around the terrace to see the views and the public art.

“Option for tourists or hospital visitors”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

We had a family member in the hospital at OHSU and discovered that for family members of patients staying at OHSU, we could get a pass for up to 5 people for a tram trip. So, to take a break from the waiting room, give others a chance to visit, we took the tram down from OSHU, then took the trolley right at the tram starting point all the way to Pearl district for only $1 each. (buy the tickets at the tram stop or on the trolley itself). Look for brochures on the trolley for shopping and dining options on the trolley line. I do want to try the 4T trail -- but not in the rain/darkness of winter. Great views, friendly tram operators.

“Birdseye view of the city”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2012

It is a great way to see the city skyline, and changes seasonally. $4 for the round trip. Spectacular when the snow is falling!

“What a view!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012

You have to do this at least once! I live in Portland & finally took the Tram last weekend while doing the Portland 4T Trail hike. (Tip, if you take the Tram down it is free!) Half of our group sat in the back because they DIDN'T care to see the view but my friend and I were like 2 little kids right up front, faces pressed up to the glass taking it all in. What a view!!

“Go by Tram”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

It snows in Portland. Couple times a winter, even downtown gets dusted and it's a huge mess. I've dreamed about getting my ski gear on, grabbing my boards and heading for the PDX Tram at the South Waterfront. I'd casually climb aboard with the patients and medical folks heading up to "Pill Hill" and blow their minds.
Fantasies aside, the Tram gives Portland visitors stunning views of the city, river and mountains beyond. Grab the Streetcar from downtown out to the Waterfront. You're delivered to the lower terminal for the three minute ride carrying you 3300 feet at 20 MPH to the upper terminal at OHSU. Great scenics continue on the deck with the 500 foot elevation gain. Linger for photo ops then head back down to explore. Roundtrip cost: $4.
The Daily Cafe is an easy find in the atrium of the OHSU Clinical building as you disembark the pill shaped car, built with precision by the Swiss, at the lower terminal. Head for the river and stroll along the shore in any weather. Double back along SW Bond Ave and consider lunch at Bambuza Vietnamese Bistro.
If it's nice, skip the streetcar and walk back along the river. Daily workout, check.
