“Chic and walkable location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

A beautiful remodel of the old Governer hotel, while maintaining the graceful staircase down to Jakes grill. Rooms are cosy and inviting with all the amenities.Friendly, down to earth staff.Walkable to anywhere downtown or to the Pearl district.

Most beautiful and comfortable hotel, ever. Restaurant: good-ish. Bar: Awesome. BUT.... the street noise is really unacceptable, and makes it VERY difficult to sleep. The hotel needs to replace the windows. If it had appropriate, noise reducing, windows, it would be an awesome choice. But the people are nice and helpful, PERFECT location, and I had zero other complaints. I suppose if you live in a city, and are used to falling asleep through street-car noise and drunken hooting, you will find no negatives here.

Truly appreciate the favorable review and honest feedback regarding your experience. Like all urban hotels, we are subject to street noise from time to time. Of course, we have a lot of different options with respect to room location and I am confident that, if given the chance, we can find you a perfectly quiet room. Frankly, we don't hear this type of feedback very often but again, it does come with the territory on some level.

Again, much appreciated. Consider us again for your next visit to Portland.

We have stayed in other high end Portland hotels and have been sorely disappointed by the lack of a quiet private room. Adjoining doors seem to be popular in these other hotels so they can adapt to large suites. I'm not looking for a large multi-room suite and I don't want to hear my neighbors conversations or TV. However, Sentinel has earned our repeat business with beautiful, comfortable, and private rooms. We have never heard our neighbors just the city rumble outside and that you can't avoid, it's more like white noise. Room service is prompt and yummy, as well, so we always order breakfast in. And a staff that is happy to help with any need or question you may have.

The Sentinel is a beautiful old hotel. Staff was very friendly. it was like I was visiting friends. The décor was gorgeous. We had our company Christmas party there and all of it was great. Wonderful food and service! I also visited the two restaurants and the staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Connected to Jake's, this is a beautiful hotel I hope to stay in some time (even though I live near Portland). Located downtown, it is close to lots of parking, restaurants and venues for events. We actually attended an event at the Sentinel, which is why I write.

The service? Wonderful and friendly! The food and beverages offered at the social event we attended were amazing. The ornate walls and ceilings can be studied for MONTHS! It was a wonderful experience and I hope we are back sooner than later.

After a slightly shaky start where we needed to move rooms twice because of construction on traffic noise, we settled into a great room in this super trendy hotel.
All the little touches were very hipster, the beds and pillows comfy, and service was excellent form everyone we dealt with from front desk to valets.
The location is ideal for downtown and the pearl district.
Highly recommended and we will stay here again when next in Portland.
