“Consider somewhere else if you want a relaxed wedding where people can enjoy each other”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2010

The grounds are beautiful and perfect for an outdoor summer wedding , but as another commented you will feel extremely rushed. Your guests will not be welcome if they show up more than 10 minutes before the ceremony. We had several family members from all over the country who haven't seen each other in ages so people started to trickle in about 45 minutes early and WOW what a commotion the wedding planner created. It was no big deal, we were the only party there that day. Also the bride and groom did not get to just enjoy the day - they were rushed around from ceremony to pictures to food to tables and then out the door. One positive note is that the food is delicious. Way better than you would expect for a catered on site venue.

“Wedding Paradise with a downside”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2009

As parents of the bride we wouldn't recommend Lakeside Gardens without first warning people about Julie (the wedding coordinator). The place is clean & gorgeous. The food good, but don't turn Julie loose on your wedding day without first designating someone for her to ask if there's a question.

The wedding was set for 2:30 and people were still arriving at 2:25. Yet Julie told our DJ to wrap up the background music. She then turned to the bride's aunt (my sister) and told her to immediately start her piano medley. More guests continued arriving but when our DJ pointed it out, Julie replied with the tone and the assurance of a drill sergeant, "The wedding WILL start at 2:30." SHE WAS NOT NICE, and when trying to reason with her, she interrupted with, "I'll take care of it".

Julie took care of it alright. She sent someone out to the parking lot to divert guests from the main entrance. Instead they were forced to come through a side door and wander down a narrow hallway where the wedding party was lined up. One guest tripped and nearly fell trying to avoid stepping on the bride's wedding dress.

We were the ONLY event scheduled for that day at Lakeside Gardens. In fact we'd purchased an extra hour of time just in case. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO NEED to start the wedding precisely at 2:30 and Julie knew it. No need to humiliate our guests. And sadly, some names never made it on the guest book because of the "detour",

Julie should have asked either the bride or her parents what they wanted to do. Instead she rushed us. As soon as she cut off the background music my sister immediately started playing the piano as ordered. BUT THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A MOMENT OF SILENCE FIRST, or a small chime or something to signal that the wedding was about to begin. Instead…the piano medley began while people continued filing in through the back door. The chapel was abuzz with talking that continued through the entire performance. Then, as if that wasn't enough…Julie came up (WHILE SHE WAS PLAYING) to whisper more instructions.

After the reception, as a few guests remained talking and enjoying the moment Julie announced that if we hurry to get out of there, we'd get a refund of the extra time we had paid for. A groomsman commented on having to rush and Julie's snappish reply was "Well, that's what happens when people stay late". Personally I found Julie rude and insulting--a far cry from the pleasant person she was before they got our money. OUR WEDDING WAS RUSHED ALONG for no good reason.

“A fantastic Diamond in the Rough”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2006

When searching for our wedding location and reading page after page about this wedding place and that, all of our hearts settled when we visited Lakeside Gardens.

Tip #1: GO THERE! I dare you. See if your heart will not be swooned by it's glorious landscape, the lovely wedding consultants and even the picturesquely perfect swans under the footbridge.

After working with Chris, our wedding consultant, I have no doubt our wedding day will be flawless. Not only is she fantastic as a planner, but she has creative ideas and perspectives nobody ever brought to the table before. Meet with her briefly and your heart will be at rest in this ever-busy and stressful time.

Tip #2: This place is hassle free - almost all-inclusive. They provide linens, servers and serving utensils, dance floor, speaker system for ceremony, piano, chairs, food, drink, recommendations for any outside vendors, creative tips to make your day special, and most of all, they are looking out for the bride and groom's best intrerest. WOW! What a surprise.

Tip #3: consider chair covers. Although a splurge (ours was a VERY tight budget of $10,000), look at pictures of receptions at Lakeside with chaircovers. Their chairs arae fine if you are into teal, but if not, the covers are fantastic!

Tip #4: all things at the ceremony are WHITE WHITE. The chairs are bright white, the unity table is bright white, the gazebo is bright white and so is the entrance pagoda. I have an ivory dress and that is the only thing I am nervous about. But I will be draping tulle like there's no tomorrow, so it will be okay.

Other than that, Lakeside is fabulous. I am planning my wedding from Seattle, and to have such a fantastic venue makes my life so much easier!
