“A great rainy-day destination.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

This is one of those places where I mainly just go during a day off when I'm feeling like a beer or some coffee/newspaper/book reading. Daytime is good because it's not packed. The food is of course, good. I'm just there more often for beer and coffee. Their beer menu could be improved upon. Apart from that, the place is comfortable, friendly and a solid destination.

“First, the waitress was good! The food, not so!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

I ordered the Rock fish which was supposed to be local and fresh, it was very soggy and tasteless (the only aftertaste was of rancid oil). Both my wife's and my entree's came with mashed potatoes and green beans, the potatoes were grainy - like instant, which I'm sure they were, and the green beans were practically raw with the stems and ends still attached. She had the special of the day Parmesan encrusted sole that was pounded so flat it was hard to tell there was an actual fish there. We generally do not complain about food but this place was not close to being the superb place it was touted to be. A disappointment for the one and only meal we were able to have in Portland.

“excellent seafood”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

we booked a table and glad we did. the food was excellent. we had the cedar plank wild salmon and a daily special (also salmon) and we were not disappointed. Our waiter was attentive and informative. The hostesses were a bit disorganized but once we got seated all was well. Glad we found the place.

“Food and atmosphere great , service okay,”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

Food was superb with lots of choices for everyone! The prices seemed a little steep and the salads are not included. Went with a large group (20) and had tables near the back which was great. All was so yummy- just a couple of hiccups were encountered... ordered a salad that never came (I was okay as the meal was filling) but needed to ensure the salad wasn't on the bill. The ordered wine was out so the waiter asked to substitute with a favorite and we all agreed without asking the cost! The favorite was very good but cost substantially more that the originally selected wine. Just remember to ask! My water glass was kept full, A++! Everyone ordered different items and only compliments were voiced on all the dishes. Highly recommend!

“Good but Expensive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

Read that this was supposedly one of the best seafood restaurants. The meal was very good, but not so sure it was one of the best. Started with the crab cocktail, which was nice, though pricey. Next, had the salmon stuffed with crab and shrimp. Nice combination, but very heavy on the butter. Finished with a berry shortcake - the flavor was good, but the shortcake was a little hard. The staff was nice. Enjoyed the meal, although it was a little pricey.
