We ate the China Rim food yesterday evening. To be fair, we ordered our food to go, but noticed that while inside there were only 2 other customers. I should have taken that as a warning to stay away, but I guess I was too tired. This is the first and ONLY time we will eat here. I would never come back. To set the mood, our family was returning home after a long day at a competition, and a short drive, it was 6:30pm and we did not want to start cooking. Everyone was starving so we would have been happy with McDonald's, but after getting China Rim food home, PB&J would have been more appreciated. My daughter having won 1st place in the competition asked for Chinese food to celebrate. I agreed. The place was clean and as I had read other GOOD REVIEWS, previously, we decided to give it a try. The head cook must have been smoking crack or the reviewers lost their tastebuds, because this was just poor at best.
I was not in the mood for chinese and ate something at home from a previous leftover dinner. This is what saved me from frequent toilet visits. We ordered, Cashew Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Spring rolls, and Chicken Chow Mein. I thought there would be plenty of leftovers for the next day, but because the food was so awful, the dog got the sweet/sour chicken and the crows got the chow mein noodles and rice this morning. My husband ate the cashew chicken and while he said it tasted good, he came down with a case of diarrhea early this morning. My kids started getting diarrhea about 1 hour after eating the food. The Spring rolls were so greasy they had to be rolled in a napkin to absorb all the oil. The insides were mushy and flavorless, except for grease. They were crispy on the outside however. The Chow mein became mushy the further down you went in the container and the bottom was totally soggy, and except for the snowpeas (which were grey green) the entire dish was beige and colorless. The Sweet & Sour Chicken was the worst of all. The chicken must have been fried and then refried or kept under a heat lamp as it was approximating chicken jerky rather than puffy nuggets of chicken. The sauce was barely coating the pieces of chicken. The only thing that was edible was the rice.
The service was fast and civil, and the place looked clean, but the food was just worse than school cafeteria food. Please don't think that we are an exceedingly picky family, my son will eat almost anything and even he agreed that it was awful. I really wanted to like this place, because this is close to our house and we love to go out for Chinese 1 or 2 times a month, but this place was so oily and flavorless that I'd rather travel over to Happy Panda for easy and fast Chinese.
