Went to Campbell's last Tuesday night. Our daughter just moved into the neighborhood a month ago and have passed it a few times wanted to try it out. It was a quiet evening, about 5:30 when we got there, early for us but we were hungry. Great selection on the menu. You must be a meat lover to go here. I had nothing but brisket on my mind so I'm not sure if there were any vegies offered besides the sides.
The main thing I like about the menu was besides ordering a dinner for yourself they also had platters or samplers. We ordered the sampler for 3, oh my gosh! There was so much food. Chicken, beef ribs, pork ribs, pork loin, beef brisket and sausage. Plus we got three sides and cornbread. We ordered yams, baked beans and mac and cheese. There were enough leftovers for each of us to have a midnight snack or lunch the next day.
The smoke was nice on the meat, alder I think. They also asked us if we wanted the sauce on the side or on the meat. I love that because so many north-western bbq places just slather everything in sauce and I want to taste the meat. 3 types of sauce was offered. We opted for the smokey sweet.
I was disappointed that almost all the meat was on the dry side, especially the brisket. I'm not sure if the meat was sitting in the warmer too long or what but the beef was dry as well as the chicken. I like my meat succulent. It tasted very good except for the dryness .
The cornbread was OK, needed more fat ( it tasted like mine lol) and the mac and cheese was very dry too.
The place had a cool decor. Just wish they had a patio or outdoor seating. The old ovens were very cool looking. The server seemed to be pretty bummed out she was working that night, I was very slow, three tables while we were there including us.I really want to try this place on a Friday or Saturday night when the place may be jumping and we want to try the bison on the menu too.
