When we visited the Visitor's information Bureau in Portland the lady encouraged us to go to the Voodoo Doughnut Shop a few blocks down the street for the best doughnuts we will ever have. She prepared us by saying there will be a line all the time and it's cash only. She suggested we make use of the wait to make our selections while in line so we can get in and out and not hold people up. She said don't plan on finding a place to sit just find a park bench. Finding a parking space may be a challenge. Now, I love a good doughnut like the next guy, but my wife would rather have a muffin when we visit pastry shops in our travels. So, I had a real challenge convincing her that this (given the issues) should be on our Portland, Oregon "bucket list" right up there with the Rose Garden. Five cruises around the one way streets we found a parking place and pumped in the quarters. Then in line we go for 17 minutes. We select the four pack and out the door we go wondering why we stood in line for a doughnut? Did I tell you it started to sprinkle? Back to the car we go. Alas, they were gooood, not the best I have enjoyed, but good. This place does not a PR program because as it has the best: word of mouth. It even works on people who do not care for doughnuts. And I can tell folks I've been to the Voodoo doughnut shop, have you?
