I've lived in Europe for 15 years and come from German parents so european culture has been a big part of my life. Edelweiss Deli is about as close to getting european foods, magazines and a limited selection of other supplies as one can get in the Pacific NW.
The Kassler smoked pork chops, leberkaes , hams and sausages are made fresh and taste a lot like food you would get in Germany. The imported jars/canned goods, chocolates and candies and coldcase items are pricey but also items you might find in northern european stores. The baked goods , breads and rolls are probably the least authentic of the european items , also usually fresh and decent.
Service is good and even though on Saturday mornings, this place can look like a frenzied free for all , taking a number from the number dispenser by the front door, will ensure you orderly , prompt and helpful service.
For newbies, just point to anything that looks good and ask for a sample, which the counterpeople give readily.
Limited seating in the snackbar area gives you a place to order food and drink to enjoy at the Edelweiss.
