We found ourselves in Portland the weekend after Valentine's Day and decided to postpone our Valentine's dinner until then. Our hotel recommended Wildwood, and the only reservations we could get was at 730pm on a Sunday night. We arrived on time (parking is tricky, but they do have their own tiny lot) and were told we had to wait. After a bit, the hostess said we could still wait, or sit at the Chef's counter. We opted for that, because it is always fun to watch the kitchen staff. The food was remarkably good. We enjoyed our meal very much. We split a larger order of the lamb, and it was cooked perfectly. However, someone else commented on the wine--we wanted wine from Oregon and they only recommended the French wine! However they were able to come up with 2 different kinds of pinot noir for us to try. We found the wait staff very friendly, and they did check on us, to make sure that we were doing OK---we would eat here again.
