“Be prepared for spicy!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012 via mobile

This place has the spiciest Thai food in all of Portland. Flavorful and brings the heat. "Medium" on there scale is equivalent to HOT on most other scales.

“Finger-licking, tear-producing good!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

Just awesome food. We ordered 4 dishes and every single one of them was oozing with the flavors of Thai spices. Food can get pretty spicy. I have a high tolerance but I was glad I ordered medium. Ambiance is nothing to rave about. Service is excellent and prompt. Prices are reasonable.

“True Thai taste,atmosphere, and service!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2012 via mobile

We entered this steamy college hangout on a dreary winter evening. The decor was a little third-worldy,the tables were crammed together, and the service was a little slow-but nothing to complain about. The waiter was careful to explain that the degrees of spiciness were probably more extreme than we were used to. We've been to Thailand a few times so we opted for "medium" and that did not disappoint. One of our party was vegetarian so we opted for the tofu which I generally dislike but it was delicious as were all the dishes. All in all the meal was great and there were no complaints! Excellent value for the money

“Always yummy! Best curries! Worth the wait!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2011

The only downside to Baan Thai is that the place is so small, and so well liked, that it can take a while to get your food. That said, the pumpkin curry is amazing! And in true thai style, if you want super spicy all you have to do is ask for medium. DO NOT ORDER HOT! Even those of you who are brave would be foolish! Pad Thai is good, though not as great as hyped on yelp. Tom Ka soup is really great too! The coconut juice comes with a coconut slice, excellent. I've never had a bad dish.

“Huge portions, great flavors”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2009

Main thing--the food was not as spicy as other reviews led us to believe. We followed advice and ordered "medium" instead of hot, and were disappointed. But the food was very good, and portions large. We ended up with way too much food. Luckily, we got to go back a second night and got it about right. Neither night was too busy, but it was July, maybe classes were out. Highly recommended.
