“Lovely restaurant with half-portion entrees!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2014

The food is good and local so the menu changes from time-to-time. What I really like is that many of their entrees are offered in both half and full portions. And the half portions are really good-sized. The lamb is delicious. The wine list is extensive with lots of Oregon wines. We went early on a Sunday night so service was not an issue although they were fairly busy by the time we left.

“affordable and good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2014

Only a relative small restaurant that looks like someones living room. Service sometimes a bit slow but it was busy. Food was very nice and they had a nice wine slection. We enjoyed our dinner here. Had been to Paleys before but will come back next time. One of the best restaurants in Portland.

“Overated, overpriced”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2014

We had very high expectations of this restaurant from what we read (on the internet, in a guide book). This restaurant is not worth the money. The best thing we had to eat was the bread and the butter that was softened before serving. The wine list is totally overpriced (and deceptive upon reading). The basic vinagrette for a green salad was flat -- bad or old olive oil -- we didn't know what that was. It had no flavor: what restaurant can't pull off a salad dressing? And the salad had some limp greens with a few half-hearted attempts at a slice of vegetable. We couldn't tell what they were. The terrine of beets was mediocre. Beets, if you love them, are amazing -- why can't this retaurant pull off a good beet salad? Why make a fancy name for sometning that isn't worth it? We paid $19 for the "half" scallop dish -- two scallops, by the way. And that was paired with a "cherry" saunce that totally didn't work. Underseasoned, with a few stalks of asparagus….. I recommend benefitting from the great local food scene here in Portland (we've had great ethnic food, some wonderful Meditteranean places for example). We'll never go back to Paley's Place and spent a lot fo money for very little -- and not good -- food.

“Lovely fine restaurant in old home, excellent cuisine and staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2014

Although I have been to Portland many times I had never been to Paley's Place. I had dinner there during my stay and it was excellent. The rooms are lovely, the staff very well trained and accommodating and the food was excellent. Our server was not only knowledgeable, but really polite and helpful. I had soft shell crabs and that were amazing. They have a really well thought out wine list -bar menu. Book in advance, the restaurant was totally sold out when I was there. I would certainly recommend Paley's Place and will go back again.

“We sat at the bar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2014

We walked in off the street, since we were staying at the Inn at Northrup Station next door and had spent the day riding bikes in the rain at the Columbia River Gorge. We were just happy to be warm and dry. But then we started tasting the food and truly content set in. The staff was wonderful as was everything we ate. Not cheap, but worth the price.
