5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014

Walk with your companion next door to the bar at the Heathman, ask for a booth, order a cucumber cocktail, a light beer, a bowl of mussels with an extra slice of bread to dip in the sauce, and the razor clam on a bed of asparagus. Yum yum.

“Great service in a lovely atmosphere.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014

My husband and I like wood paneled bars and this one wAs so lovely, we shared a drink and a light supper. Our waitress, Chantelle, was just so charming. Not only did she provide great food and beverage service she also helped with tips for sightseeing. Highly recommend this place for drinks and a quick bite.

“Great food, inflexible kitchen staff gets it a poor!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2014

This is a staple of mine when visiting Portland, in fact each time. Tonight, with a menu change they did not have what I preferred. No problem. But when I asked for a Caesar salad with no anchovy, a common request in any restaurant, the kitchen said no! Anyone who cooks knows it takes just a few minutes to make a faux caesar dressing. About as much time as it takes to plate a salad. OK, it is not my kitchen so I offered a different entree and when I asked what vegetable comes with it, a green one, I was told none, and no options.

The MGT. and more importantly the kitchen staff need to learn that there are so many choices for a great meal in Portland. And within reason, a restaurant should be accommodating. Especially for a return guest, now that they keep track through OPEN TABLE. The manager was understandably concerned with her staff saying 'no' and she thoughtfully offered to excuse me from paying. I wasn't shooting for a free meal, and would have rather enjoyed my experience as planned. For these reasons I can't recommend this place -- or at least be mindful that special requests likely will not be honored.

“Big restaurant- big flavors!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

I started with the Stone fruit salad which had peaches and house-made duck pastrami- amazing!! The French Onion soup was the best I've ever had- with caramelized onions and lots of gruyere cheese. For my main course, I had the tuna which was swimming in a sauce of creamed corn. Everything was absolutely delicious!!
