“Vast improvement! Bang for the buck and good location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013

We had booked another hotel, but when we got there it was a smoking wing connected to a strip club, so we left! It was a busy week in Portland, drove all around. I remembered there was some cheap hotels in the dtn area, but couldn't remember names. We went to several, they were $159-169 for dumps! I was just about in tears, this was a short trip and we didn't have much time. I remember from when I lived in Portland this 6th Ave Motel, just remembered neon sign and that it used to look pretty rough. They had painted it and I think are pickier on clientele. For $75 it is a great dtn location, there is a convenience store nearby, free parking [which costs $30 alone for fancy hotels there], and they guy even gave us an upgrade for no more money! I had a class I was headed to and wine bars and happy hours, we just needed to be central. Not saying it is the Taj Mahal, but compared to the others at HALF the price, it felt safe and with the air conditioning on we didn't hear street noise. They saved the day, and really have made an effort to improve.

Room Tip: We got a 2 bed room for price of one, so those are good when traveling with kids. It is a busy stree...

2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

The location was perfect for our visit to the Oregon Health and Science University and the price seemed right ($65, given our senior citizen discount). however, our room, number 14, wasn't quite ready for habitation. There was some indication of effort to rehabilitate this aging motel, but not much in room 14. For example, we were afraid to take a shower because apparently there had been a serious leak in the room above and the dark mold still looked wet over the shower head and a piece of tape for a temporary fix hung down ominously. Also, although the toilet and the basin in the bathroom looked brand new, the faucet over the wash basin had not been attached properly so we had to hold it in place to get water. All the caulking in the bathroom looked like it had been done by a ten year old or less and there was no shelf or even
one towel rack--just marks and holes where they once had been. We had to hang the hand towel over the shower rod which was too high for me to reach. As I said before, I don't know about the rest of the rooms, but room 14 needed a lot more fixin'.

Room Tip: Avoid room 14.
