“Great Food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014

Don't be deterred if there is a line, this place is worth it. The food was delicious and generously sized and it's very affordable. I liked that you place your order and they seat you once your food is ready. It was actually really nice being able to get a drink at the bar and stand outside for a bit while we waited to be seated. Then, when we were seated, our food was right there - hot & delicious waiting for us. Can't wait to come back!

“Busy place with good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014 via mobile

Late lunch visit and it was very crowded even after 1 pm. All self order and grab utensils and get seated by number. Seating is close and crowded. Nice bar in the middle if the place. We had jade noodles with tofu (the person at the register asks you what spice level you want from 0-4) and mine was 2.5, which was perfect and not too hot. Tasty. Pho was also tasty and the tofu rice salad bowl with noodles was the also very tasty. We also had a bahn mi pork sandwich, which was served with a salad and very good as vietnamese sandwiches go and fresh salad rolls that I found to be rathe blah. The place stays open til 4 am I hear and there are many specialty drinks they offer. Lunch time so no alcohol for us. This place apparently does a spectacular business and if the crowd was any indicator, it seems to be true. Good all around, but I have had better, I have to admit. I would definitely return though.

“Tasty joint with fun vibe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2014

Arrived solo at 5:15pm and two large groups were ahead of me. For a small place, they can sure pack us in fairly quickly. I got a seat at the bar within ten minutes. Enjoyed a draft beer, and vermicelli with pork and extra crispy rolls (didn't realize the main dish also came with them!) Food was super tasty, great portion size. I only wish I had room at the end for an iced Vietnamese coffee I saw the bartender making. Fun little place, great vibe. Oh, super clean looking too which is a bonus.

“Best Vietnamese food ever...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2014

I really enjoyed this place...There was a long line when we arrived but we moved through it pretty quick. At this place, you pay up front and then wait to get seated. Food was outstanding and the portions were huge - very large serving for the price...Cocktails were good but you have to get up and go to the cashier counter every time you wanted to replenish (we were seated at the bar and they may have taken our money there but the opportunity did not arise so i just went to the counter). Would go back to this place in a second!

“Hipster Joint”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

We go up to Portland at least once or twice a year with a primary mission of eating and drinking pinot. Overall, the restaurants up there are excellent, on par w/SF at a much better price point.

Even in city w/high standards, this place really stands out. We walked by this past Saturday after taking a walking tour of the city. Between the river and downtown is a one-room, extremely cool place that looks and acts as much like a bar as a restaurant. We were there for happy-hour and even though it was 4:30, the place gradually filled up. You give your food/drink order to the person at the front (who would normally walk you to a table). They ring it up and give you a number that coincides w/a specific table. We sat at the bar.

Both the food and cocktails were unique and high quality and remarkably inexpensive. The décor is simple but cool with copper and wood on the side, a suspended bar and tiny umbrellas from the ceiling (see pic).

Extremely good music selection added to the nice afternoon vibe.
