“Lives up to the recommendations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2014

I have read the reviews for the Inn at Northrup Station for a year or so and finally had the opportunity to give it a try, and it definitely lived up to the recommendations!

This is truly one of the most innovative places we have ever stayed. The decor is very funky, in a fun way. It is almost reminiscent of something out of Alice in Wonderland, with all of the artistic additions, decor, etc. But obviously, that alone doesn't make a hotel worth staying at. The location is wonderful, with many quality restaurants within walking distance. The room was terrific. We looked out over the streetcar line from a room that was very spacious and well maintained. The breakfast was very simple but well done, including healthy options.

We will be looking for an opportunity to come back here soon and spend several days enjoying the neighborhood. This is a place for FUN and quality!!!

This was a great place to stay. The rooms were super fun and the staff was so helpful. I forgot my phone charger and one of the desk staff let me borrow hers for over night. How sweet is that? They even helped me find a place to get my nails done.

Room Tip: take the trolley around town, they give you a free ticket and it was a nice relaxing ride to see dow...

The Inn at Northrup station is great! Their staff is by far their best asset! They were so helpful and informative, always with a smile on their faces. Excellent restaurant recommendations too, thank you! The room was great with a kitchen which is a great touch and the free breakfast in the morning is more than adequate. This place is situated in a great area of Portland called Alphabet District. There are 2 very cool streets nearby (21st and 23rd) that are full of cool shops, restaurants and bars. All that you need is there! We also walked from there through the Pearl District which is lovely to the food carts downtown. Portland is a great walking town for sure. If walking is not your thing then the street car stop is right outside the inn (free tickets provided by the inn). For sure, I will go back to Portland and for sure, I will stay here again.

Make sure to go have the beer samplers at Deschutes Brewery and check out Powell's bookstore too, that place is brilliant! Another recommendation is the Portland walking tour, super informative and fun.

Our flight from Honolulu was delayed. All airport hotels booked. Northrup Station had room and told us how to get there using a combination of Max and streetcars. Wonderful service. It's an eclectic boutique hotel that is quirky and wonderful. Great room. The next morning, following our fresh waffle breakfast, the desk told us how to get close to Amtrak so we could get home. They gave us streetcar passes. Wonderful service. Great hotel. On the streetcar line. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: They have continental breakfast, coffee in room, most rooms have kitchens, free internet. Every roo...

Thank you very much for this kind review. Sounds like you had a rough time getting home during the recent “snowpocalypse,” but what a relief it is to hear that you were able to relax and enjoy yourself during this unexpected stay with us! Hopefully we will see you again and you will be able to explore all the wonderful things Portland has to offer without the snow storm.

Thank you again for your review!

I have to go to Portland several times a year, this is the place I chose to stay 90% of the time. The location is very convenient for my needs, and has several great food choices nearby. The rooms are nice, having the kitchen is a huge plus for my longer stays. I usually prefer to stay in suites that have a separate living area, since often my husbands and my sleep schedules do not coincide, but I make an exception for this hotel. I have only had two issues with this hotel in my many stays,

1.) I stayed on a lower floor and ended up with a family above me, with kids ran around from 9am - 9pm. It was very loud and made it very hard to concentrate on the work I needed to get done. Now I always pay to upgrade to the top floor.

2.) I have learned never to ask for an early check in, after being treated like that was a ridiculous question on more then one occasion. I just automatically ask them to hold my luggage now and come back after check in time.

Nice suite with kitchenette, comfy bed and sleeper sofa. Kuerig coffee, nice desk, and free wifi. Located in great part of Portland (NW), with tons of good restaurants pand streetcar stops at front door to give you access to the central part of the city. Would definitely stay here again for the price ($150).
