5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

I loved this place from the moment we checked in...giant jars of candy on the tables, Dr. Seuss carpet, rooftop lounge and private balconies. Not only is this hotel clean, affordable and fun, the trolley runs right in front of it. In addition, its a five minute walk to 23rd, where you can a phenomenal selection of restaurants, bars, and people watching. Love, love, loved his location!

I travel a lot and stay in many kinds of hotels and this is one of the better ones. Very stylish and fun. Their attention detail is second to none. If you can get past the wild color scheme (I loved it), you will absolutely enjoy this place.

This hotel is not going to be for everyone, but if you want a true Portland experience then it is perfect! The hotel has a bright funky vibe, and is in a great location in NW Portland. The street car picks up right in front, and there are plenty of restaurants, cafes, and shops near by (not to mention an extremely unique and delicious Moroccan restaurant next door!) the rate is very affordable, and the rooms are very spacious (including a fridge to store leftovers from all the great restaurants nearby).

If you are expecting resort amenities then you will be disappointed. But if you are expecting great service, a great location, and a fun funky hotel on the cheap then Northrup is your spot!

My sweetheart booked us a room at the Inn at Northrup Station and from the moment I walked into the lobby i had a great feeling about the place. The interior design is funky fun with bright colors, unique shapes, and welcoming touches all around. The location is fantastic, the NW neighborhood is very walkable with great restaurants, bars, and local businesses lining 21st and 23rd. The room was spacious and well-appointed with a king sized bed, sofa, swivel chair, coffee table and large ottoman. There were also bar stools and a desk. The kitchen had a full sized fridge, oven, and dishwasher. The rooms were also equipped with Keurig coffee machines. Another treat was the rooftop patio which had great outdoor furniture, umbrellas, and a grill. On the Saturday night we were here we took wine and cheese up to the rooftop. Spectacular!

We've stayed at the Inn at Northrup Station a couple of times while in Portland. The location is fantastic--easy parking off street, easy access to the Portland Streetcar and MAX light rail, and a quick walk to the shops, restaurants, and bars in NW Portland. The rooms are quite large and well equipped with bright colors and interesting furnishings. The staff is always friendly.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that's away from the elevator/front desk area; they can be a bit noisy. Try to ar...

Our first time to stay in NW Portland rather than the Downtown SW. On the other side of the Pearl District from Downtown, someone told me it's the alphabet section. Northrup is the N street and I understand from a Portland friend that Q is Quimby and gave Beverly Cleary the name of her most famous (at least to me) character Ramona Quimby. The streetcar stops right in front and the parking lot is at level. You actually get to park your own car. Slightly expanded continental breakfast is help yourself. The room was giant and featured a pretty full kitchen.
The hip guy at the desk, (it's all the nicest brand of hip) told me to think Flintstones. All green and orange with surprising art and great touches. Large jars of pink and green soft candy at the desk and in the breakfast room. Just go!

Room Tip: We had a balcony facing the street on the first floor. I would prefer second floor next visit.

This hotel is funky, and unique. The colors are beautiful and happy. The room is huge with two separate areas. One area for your bed with TV and then a sitting area/ kitchen with TV. It had a full kitchen!! If you are on a budget this would be great to cook your meals in. We did not, because Portland has so many fabulous restaurants we wanted to try. Very clean as well. Breakfast was your standard continental breakfast with cereal, waffle maker and fantastic New York style bagels. If I return to Portland we would no doubt stay here again. Streetcar right in front of the hotel and many top restaurants nearby, you can't go wrong with this hotel!

Room Tip: Get a balcony you can sit outside and watch the streetcar go by!

Thank you for sharing your experience at the Inn with other TripAdvisor members!
We appreciate your feedback and glad you enjoyed all of the amenities our suites have to offer. Our suites include all of the conveniences of home (plus more!), but you may not need to utilize any of it as there are so many wonderful restaurants, cafes, and shops to explore....all just steps away from the Inn!
Thanks again and we look forward to having you back!
