“Great introduction to Portland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

My first visit to Portland and wanted to get to know the city and its people before attending a conference in the city. The staff and hotel proved to be great ambassadors for Portland - a little out there and a bit different - which I loved!. The rooms were colourful, clean, spacious and quiet (although from reading Trip Advisor notes I requested and got a top floor room which may have helped). The outside patio was great and the location central for a good range of cafe's restaurants and bars. The tram was easy to use and I was able to get around and see the city sights without any problems. They get my Gold Kangaroo Award for a boutique hotel that's a bit different.

We are excited that you had such a good time on your first trip to Portland! Yes...we are a little out there and a bit different; but that's what makes us unique! We pride ourselves in standing out amongst other hotels...we truly represent Portland! Our front desk staff is always available to help and we are glad to have been your personal "ambassadors for Portland".
Thank you for your kind review and we hope to see you again the next time you are in Portland!

This is where we stay when we feel in the money. The rooms are large, clean, comfortable, colorful, with all the amenities including a full and stocked kitchen. The breakfast room is bright and has a selection of dry cereals, bread and bagels, yogurt, juices and coffee. And of course the large jars full salt water taffy are always out. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the free streetcar tickets are a bonus. We love to walk the short distance to the shopping district on NW 23rd, and for a long morning walk, go up into the beautiful neighborhoods above the hotel. On this last trip we discovered a great Thai restaurant just a few blocks away--Red Onion.

Room Tip: We like the rooms on the top floor facing the street (rather than the parking lot), although on this...

Thanks for your recent stay with us! And yes...we agree with your review! One of the best "amenities" we offer is our fabulous location. Located in the Nob Hill District, we are just a short walk to NW 23rd Street and a short Streetcar ride away from the Pearl District and Downtown Portland. Take a stroll in Nob Hill and you will find yourself surrounded by unique boutiques and amazing restaurants...what more can you ask for? Thank you again for sharing your experience and we will see you next time!

The décor makes this small hotel a delightful place to stay, and the friendly staff are very helpful. The streetcar stops just a few steps away, and it is easy to take the train from the airport to the streetcar stop. The breakfast is very basic, but overall, this hotel is a great value and very comfortable.

Based on other TripAdvisor reviews, I decided to bring my husband here for a surprise 3 day birthday celebration. I loved how the hotel was decorated--in the funky art deco style. I loved the suite we stayed in. It was very comfortable, spacious, quiet, and very thoughtfully laid out. The service was terrific. The front desk staff were very helpful. I absolutely loved the free light rail/transit tickets that were offered to us, although it almost wasn't needed as we were so close to shopping and restaurants. We walked over to the Pearl District in just a few minutes and also enjoyed walking on NW 23rd. I liked how the parking, breakfast, and wi-fi were all included in the price. My only small complaints might be the lack of something hot for breakfast as well as the very limited seating. However, the big bowls of taffy were outstanding! There's no question that I will stay here whenever I visit Portland.

We spent two nights here in March. We were in town to try some new (to us) restaurants and shop for a "mother of the bride" dress. We succeeded in trying some fun restaurants. Northrup Station is close enough to walk to a lot of good restaurants. It is a fun, colorful place to stay. The rooms are comfortable. They have a breakfast. There is always taffy available for snacking! It is on the trolley route.

A friend recommended this hotel and it was the best. Located in a very cool neighborhood walking distance from great shops and restaurants on 23rd and in Pearl District. Very cool, colorful, spacious rooms....the whole hotel is like a hip art project. Friendly, helpful, hip staff too.

We wanted something a little 'out there' in the spirit of Portland and the Inn at Northrup Station proved an excellent choice. The ambience outside the rooms is average, but the room did not disappoint, with plenty of space, a good kitchen (which we didn't use, but you could eat in comfortably if you wanted), lovely comfortable bed and that slightly cartoon life mix of colours that the photos promise. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and the free streetcar passes were a great bonus. The breakfast was OK, although it was rather a chaotic affair, self service and very busy; we found a seat, but only just. There was stiff competition for the waffles when they started to run low! The location is good, out of the hustle of the downtown but an easy streetcar ride away (once you get your bearings - for some reason I had a real problem with this in Portland, but I still loved the place!) Overall a great stay and a hotel to which I would return if visiting the city again.

Room Tip: I would go for a ground floor room at the front. I like overlooking the street (balcony) and they ha...
