Very nice staff, couldnt get an early check in, but that's ok, because they have a nice little resturant downstairs that i was able to hang out at and eat some good food, while i waited.
The building is older, and rooms have been remodled, got two queen sized firm beds which my partner liked. The TV remote did not work or it could've been operator error who knows, but i slept comfortably. My partner was surprised that i slept through the party next door that went for a while (but i was tired), he on the other hand got to hear it till it stopped. The price is not too bad for what you get, and location.

This hotel does what it says on the tin. It offers a value for money place to stay in central Portland. We stayed for two nights on a tour of the West coast and it was a nice comfortable place to relax and see some of Portland. The room was clean with good facilities. we had no trouble from our neighbours they were a little loud on one night but we were there in the middle of Spring break so it could have been far worse. The staff we met appeared genuinely happy to help and helped us with directions without issue and we are very pleased with the expereience. No issues at all

This place has bed bugs unless u like waking up with bites and itching constantly than this is your place . Housekeeping doesn't do anything ESP clean . It's a great location just really needs to be redone and have someone inspect the rooms .

This is what you would expect with some extras. The rooms are clean with the basics. No frills. The staff is friendly and helpful. This is my second stay here and neither time did I have to worry about theft or shady characters. The pizza place next door has good food and across the street is an internet cafe with more choices. If you stay during the week walk a block south and try the food carts. There are 20 or so and they have great cheap food. No frills but good sound service and security.

Booked an 8-night reservation for this hotel over the phone a month prior to visit and called a week prior to check the reservation. When we arrived they wanted to charge me more than $100 more than the quoted price. When I explained the situation to the owner and explained that he needed to honor the reservation or we would be forced to go somewhere else, he said to go somewhere else. This left me, my husband, my baby and all of our luggage stranded in downtown Portland trying to find hotel that met our needs for a price comparable to the DVI's originally quoted price.

Room Tip: Book somewhere else!

Value inn is rather. the best part is that it's in downtown and really close to any transport and major attractions. Room was huge with a kitchen.

I was going to give this place an average or poor rating until my wife and I got home and broke out with bed bug bites from sleeping here. The location is great, right in the middle of the PSU campus, 6 blocks or so walk to downtown and right on the light rail line, but the rooms are dumpy and they don't service them. We stayed here for three nights and they emptied or trash one time. That was it. I had to go to the front desk to get toilet paper. They don't make the beds or replace towels or anything else.

The guys running the front desk were nice enough, and the rooms were at least $50/night less than any place downtown, but I still couldn't recommend this place.

Because of the location and access to public transportation we were able to park the car and leave it there for 3 days for free and no one messed with the car, but parking spots were limited.

It looks like they tried to update the place and ran out of money. The shower was newly tiled, but the rest of the place hadn't been updated for decades which is probably the last time they washed the bedding. There were cigarette burns on every flat surface and the toilet wasn't connected to the floor so if you shifted while sitting you would get a lovely sewage smell.

If you're on a budget try the Econo Lodge a block away or stay out by the airport and take the train into town.

Will not stay here ever again.
