“Not DQ!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012

Back home in Western Colorado, we two vacationeers have a selection of one ice cream place -- Dairy Queen. At my brother's recommendation, went to Salt and Straw. The flavors blew our minds. I love salt and caramel, could have eaten a quart of Salted Caramel. This is rich, top drawer ice cream that comes in amazingly creative flavors. Not everyday ice cream (one would go broke!) but well worth the wait.

“Creative + Delicious!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012

It was a very rainy day in June when we went, but it was so worth it! I had the Salted Caramel (sounds boring but it's unbelievably satisfying) and my husband got Strawberry Balsamic Black Pepper which he was crazy about. We will definitely come back next time we're in Portland.

“Can't see what the fuss is about”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

Went to the Alberta Arts location. Got three pints to go at $8 or so each. Vanilla, Bourbon Praline and a Chocolate concoction. None of them were beyond the quality of a Haagen Dazs store bought pint but twice the price. Cool spot but nothing to go out of your way to eat.

“Best Ice Cream Ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

We came across this spot while walking on Alberta street. It was packed but decided to wait for dessert. It was worth the wait, the ice cream was amazing. The service was good and the place is comfortable. Save room for dessert, great ice cream.

“Creative Ice Cream”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

This place has flavors of ice cream that one would think came out of a fairy tale. And it works, they are delicious. You can spend as much time sampling the fascinating creations (they are very patient) as actually making a decision and delving into your delicious cone of wonder.
