I stayed here in Portland at the Holiday Inn Express on Vaughn Street for work. I was under the impression that it was close to the Convention Center but it actually is across the river on the other side of town. This didn't disappoint me!! If you are a walker, this is a great location for the price-- you can walk to the street car, walk around Nob Hill (great neighborhood with wonderful cafes, boutiques, and restaurants!), get on the Max and go around town. If you are not a walker, this may not be the best place from which to explore Portland.

Portland is a great city, I will definitey be back, and-- if their prices and service stays the same-- stay at the Holiday Inn Express.

My husband and I stayed in the HI express in the NOB hill area of Portland. You can't beat the price, location and walkability of the the area.

First, it is easy to find off the highway. Right at the exit and easy access to 23rd street, the tram and the city in general.

Our first room overlooked the parking area and you could not see any sites. We asked to move and we were placed in a room overlooking 23rd street and the highway exit - primo for this hotel. Parking was secure and access was easy.

We walked down 23rd street which was a little diappointing. Lots of yuppie stores with rediculous prices. We jumped on the trolley 2 nights and had a great ride., They said there was a cost, but nobody paid. The second night we ended up down-town (this is not downtown) and had a great meal at a lebonise restaurant (Habibs).

We really enjoyed Portland and walked lots of areas in Nob Hill and the Arts Area. Nice 2 nighter.

HI Express had helpful staff, a decent breakfast and free Internet - what else do you really need?

I would recommend for tourists with families and for those just without.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on Vaughan, there are 2 others I believe in the area. The location was just off the main highway into Portland downtown which made it very noisy. Convenient for walking to local restaurants in the Nob Hill area but then we were terribly disappointed in the food in general in the area. Way over priced and not good. Bed was horrible, sunk in the middle and pillows too soft. Pool was dirty too. We were disappointed at what is normally a consistent, good value with HIEX.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Sep 8-10, while in town for a Wedding. The Location is good as it is a short walk to Glisan and lots of resturants and bars.

The room was in good condition and parking is a breeze and Free...nice considering proximity to downtown.

The price and location add up nicely and overall a good experience.
