“Very fun!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

This was a fun excursion and our guide was quite entertaining. Yes, we got wet. It happened to be a sunny day when we went, otherwise, I would think it could get very cold out there - wet - for 2+ hours! It's worth it to do this jetboat excursion.

“WHAT A BLAST!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2013

My favorite experience during our visit to Portland.
We were absolutely DRENCHED by the time we got off the boat but also had a GREAT TIME!! I will never forget the expression "HOLD ON HOLD ON HOLD ON" as the last things you hear before skidding along on the water and getting wet again. Our clothes had no sooner dried out from the last spin than we got soaked again with the next one. But it was a very hot day so it's just what we wanted. The captain's running commentary told us way more than we needed or wanted to know about bridges (their designers, architecture, engineering, etc.) but also had some interesting information about the locks, falls, and some of the homes and wildlife we saw along the way.
I live near the ocean so I'm not familiar with rivers -- by the end of 90 minutes you come out pretty stinky (river water not being as fresh as ocean water, I guess). You need to plan to get a shower and complete change of clothes pretty much right after getting off the boat.
They have a port-a-potty on the ramp leading down to the docks (you'll probably need one right after getting off the boat), but we chose to disguise ourselves as tourists and use the facilities in the science museum.
Parking was impossible the day we were there (the day of the dragon boat races right across the river), with both adjacent overflow lots also completely full. Almost missed the trip entirely but a space opened up just before the last boat took off.
So aside from the inconvenience of the docking (no parking or restrooms), this is just a great, fun ride!
TIPS: if you don't want to get wet, sit toward the rear of the boat instead of the front, and sit in the middle of the row instead of the outside edges. We were glad our light windbreakers had hoods after the first couple of drenchings. Packing some handi-wipes or a light towel would be a good idea -- you'll feel kind of grungy afterwards. Hats will blow off your head -- trust me. Glasses might be best protected with croakies.

“We keep coming back. I love showing folks this tour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

I've been on the Willamette Jet Boat Tour three times. First just out of curiosity and the next two times, showing my friends/family what I found. A great "blow the carbon out of your mind" ride. The flat spins will make you forget all of your cares but don't let me scare you. The boat is large, Coast Guard approved and has great Captains driving. You'll go downstream first and see Portland's bridges. Later, you will tour through Lake Oswego area and up to Oregon City to Wilamette Falls.

It's all a great time for all ages. Yes, you will get a little spray on you. If you want to stay drier, sit toward the rear in the center. If you want to get wet, sit in the front row at far left or right sides.

“WoW this was great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2013

Will you get wet? YES
Will you have fun? YES
Is it worth the money? YES
Will you see cool parts of Portland and nature? YES

Went on the 2 hour (History, Wildlife, Willamette Falls) tour for $39 per person. The tour is a lot of fun and a great way to see Portland from the water. You see all of the bridges on the Willamette river, some cool ships, some epic waterfront homes, the Willamette Falls, and learn about the rich and interesting history of Portland. All while seeing some amazing nature, getting fresh air, going super fast, and doing 360's.

We got lucky with the wether as it was about 80 on the day we went. Our captain was Bob. He was funny, full of information, and made the tour even better.

Highly recommended.
