“Wonderful place, but we got a very noisy room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

We loved this hotel. Excellent location, comfortable bedding and mattress, lovely and efficient staff. Our toilets were pretty sensitive and stopped up several times which was a pain, but they always came up quickly to fix.

We asked to be put on a high floor because we read the reviews about noise on lower floors. They said all the rooms with two queens, those were on the lower floors (2-5). We asked when we booked to be put on a higher floor, but they didn't have anything higher than the 3rd floor. Unfortunately, the reviews about noise were true. There's a restaurant/bar across the street that played music and I was woken up nearly every night at 1:45 when they were closing up and folks were coming out. Same again bright at early for the garbage trucks at 6am. To top off this morning, they were fixing the overhang on the restaurant across the way. Drilling and hammering at 7am. Not a good way to end our stay.

Honestly, all the noise has nothing to do with the hotel. Just be aware if you're booking and you're a light sleeper to make sure to get a higher floor and not stay on the side that overlooks Starbucks.

Room Tip: High room to avoid noise from the garbage and restaurant.

Great views of the city andgreat downtown location the hotel was clean luxurious and comfortable bedding. However the front office staff werenot what i would expect for this level of hotel and wheni asked questions about how to get items for our stay i was quickly directed to the handout and then ignored and mind you we were the only guests checking in. I had also called to see about a rollawat which they said theyhadbut there would not be roomfor it in our particular room which was so not the case.

Came up for a three day business trip. One of my employees had stayed here two times previous, loved it, so I gave it a shot - staff are awesome and good natured, location is great (did not get a car - walked the mile to the office), and my room was absolutely quiet. No complaints and will stay at again.

Room Tip: The higher the better - less street noise on the higher floors.

Portland is a beautiful city and the balcony rooms are great to enjoy the view. We happened to be there the night of the World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR). Watching all the thousands of riders from our balcony was cool. The rooms are nice but I couldn't recommend a place that wants to be a luxury hotel but try's to save a $ by using the cheapest toilet paper and tissues it can buy. Just don't understand it as other than that seems like a great place. Next time I'll try one of the many other nice hotels in the city.

Room Tip: Get a balcony room

We choose this hotel to stay together with other family members. At first it seemed pricey, but then we examined what we were getting. We definately got our money's worth- and then some. The hotel offered a great location with walking distance to many good restaurants and shops, big jacuzzi tub which was wonderful for soaking in after a day of sight-seeing, big comfy room, flat screen tv, in-room coffee and tea service, corner room, good view of the park and tree lined streets, and a nice restaurant on site that served good food. The staff went beyond taking care of our needs. They were all the nicest, most courteous, and very professional staff at every level. Loved the Concierge! Everybody smiled and said hello, not forced but genuine. We will stay here again and highly recommend it to our friends and family.

Room Tip: The rooms are comfortable and generously sized. Big bathroom that two people can easily be in and no...

Enjoyed our stay at the Paramount. They don't make hotels like this anymore. Staff was very helpful and gave us great recommendations for places to eat in the area. Room was large and updated nicely. Close walk to everything downtown. Only drawback is they do not have their own parking garage.

A weekend in Portland was made all the more pleasant by our stay at the Paramount hotel. We had taken the scenic train ride down from Bellingham so had no car. The hotel is walkable from the train station. We were greeted very pleasantly and check in was fast and efficient. Our room was extra spacious, clean, quiet and comfortable. You could open the windows and enjoy the views. I was delighted to find a small packet of high end bath salts as part of the bathroom amenities. A nice touch. The hotel is very centrally located so is ideal for those without a car. We could walk to everything. Great places for coffee and meals near by. We did not eat at the hotel restaurant but it looked very nice. The information and etching about each Portland bridge on each floor was interesting and a nice touch. We checked out other hotels in the area that we had considered and were glad we had chosen the Paramount. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

Room Tip: We were on the 9th floor with a nice view.
