This garden is a gem - a sanctuary of restfulness in the heart of the hustle and bustle of the Pearl District. Extremely well-done, high level of craftsmanship showing an idealized traditional garden. Its not big - a small city block - so if you wanted to just look at it and move on, the $9.50 adult entrance fee might seem stiff, since you can easily walk through in 30 minutes. However, if you want to sit and soak up the calm, you can easily spend hours admiring the buildings, the art displays, the lush landscaping, etc. etc. If I lived downtown, I would absolutely be a member and visit as often as possible.
