Spent three nights at the Benson in Nov. 2012. The hotel is 100 years old, and the lobby oozes with pre-WWII elegance. Lots of wood, chandeliers, marble, and a fireplace. All of the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Look for Cordell, he can tell you anything you want to know about the hotel, Portland, and the surrounding area. There is also a concierge desk that is very helpful with maps, brochures, advice, etc.

Our room was nice, clean, and had a flat screen TV and minibar. The bathroom was small, but serviceable. Bathrobe and slippers in your room.

The serve an excellent breakfast buffet for $15 each morning in the restaurant/bar at one end of the lobby.

The hotel is within walking distance of many Portland landmarks on the west side of the river, including Powell Books, Saturday Market, and the food trucks.

If you are interested in the excellent Oregon beer scene, take a left out of the Benson's front door and head a block down the street to Bailey's Tap Room. Bailey's has a huge selection of tap and bottled local beers. Also consider the Beervana tour. They will pick you up and drop you off directly at the Benson for a small extra charge.

In summary, the Benson is an excellent hotel, and we will stay there again the next time we are in Portland.

Grand, well-located, comfortable, clean, great views, amazingly comfortable Tempurpedic beds, great shower heads, and we even got to bring the dog!

You can't do better in downtown Portland.

My only beef was that if there was a coffeepot, it was hidden so cleverly that we never found it. On the upside: the in-room Internet worked fine.

The hotel was chosen for us from the bride and groom and we enjoyed the convenient location and the great views from the hotel. The food is delicious and the drinks are stiff, so you can't go wrong there! The hotel is very classic in decor, but I believe in does need a facelift in certain areas that are a bit dark and gloomy.

The Benson Hotel is a historic landmark hotel. It is a beautiful hotel (I have stayed here a few times over the years), it has been renovated over the years but the historic charm and features have been kept intact. The staff is very friendly, no complaints. The rooms are very clean, beds are comfortable, upgraded, towels don't feel like sandpaper, nice bathroom, amenities, etc....Was there for a meeting so did not get a chance to use the workout facilities but walked by, nice area with alot of equipment and weights.

Our meeting room was set up nicely, food was great, staff was attentive to our needs and were over accomodating which was nice.

This is a great place to stay in Portland, close to everything. El Gaucho restaurant is connected, the bar in the hotel is good as well.

Only thing, valet parking $31 - but you have in and out privlieges and they are fast. Parking at all hotels in PDX is expensive so this isn't any different.
