“Good food; very noisy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2012

Had brunch here. Menu was upscale diner. Well presented and good quality. But, the noise level was deafening. If you're meeting friends and want to converse, best not to come at peak hours. You'll have a sore throat, albeit a full belly.

“Best Under the Sun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2012

Mother's Day 2012: Weather sunny and mild. Where to eat? Isabel's, where, in good weather, the exterior walls swing upward (like garage doors), making the inside outside. Service was very cheerful, prices reasonable, and the food very good. Not a gourmet dining experience or a place where one is likely to take a prospective client - but for a family outing: very good indeed.

“You had me at plantains.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2012

This restaurant (same address, same interior design) is now called Isabel Pearl. I love plantains in all forms and Isabel delivers them in two on the menu--in shoestring style and as more traditional platanos--perfectly poised between the super-sweet and the starchy. We had plantains with the Latin style chicken--this was a revelation as the hint of spiciness in the sauce infused the chicken and the beans. I could have eaten the bean-rice-plantain combination with that sauce and it would have made my day. The addition of the nicely cooked roasted chicken brought everything together. We also had the carnitas with beans, corn, rice and plantains--again, excellent, and completely different in terms of the flavor combination. The carnitas was perfect in the slow-cooked and then slightly crisped edges without any fattiness--nicely done. And the combination of the beans, corn, rice, carnitas was wonderful. We had enough to take home for lunch the next day and will be going back for sure. The service was good and the space is fabulous and intriguing. Good for a nice dinner for two or four. Not noisy.

“Small space, fast service”

I've been here twice and every time I enjoy my meal. Yesterday I had a chicken quesadilla, it hit the spot!

“Very tasty at reasonable price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2012 via mobile

Went for breakfast and it was superb, think we have to come again. Appears very popular, had to wait a couple minutes for a table. Well worth it
