“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2010

Spent 4 nights in June at The Nines and was very happy with our choice. We had a corner room which was very spacious, very clean, and the bed was very comfy. No complaints! Our room was at the back of the hotel so our windows faced office buildings. That did not bother us since we did not her noise from the streets. If you want a view, request a corner room on the front of the hotel. Be aware that this hotel has inside rooms that open to the atrium restaurant below. That is the only "window" in the room and can't imagine those rooms would be as nice as a corner room. The Urban Farmer restaurant in the atrium is EXCELLENT. We selected the food plan with our reservation and received $20 each per day for food. You can't find a meal for $20 in downtown Portland and certainly not one as good as Urban Farmer!

The Nines is a very nice Hotel. My husband, daughter and I stayed for two nights everything was nice except the beds were very uncomfortable. The parking is also a bit expensive at 32.00 a night. If you want a top sheet you have to ask and also their is no coffee pot in the room. A half pot of coffee is seven dollars and something like twelve for a full pot. So if stay be ready to pay for parking and your morning coffee. Staff was very friendly and helpful especially the valet.

We stayed at The Nines for a long weekend in June and absolutely loved it. This is a fantastic hotel, in a perfect location, with great ameneties and service.

Advice: pay the extra for the Club floor. The club lounge is a gem, with great nibbles and drinks.

We recently spent 3 nights at the hotel while on a 'girlie' vacation in Portland. The hotel was in the perfect location for walking to almost anything we wanted to see. It was very clean and we enjoyed how well the maids even lined up our shoes in a neat row when cleaning the rooms! The rooms were very quiet at night. We didn't hear any noise from the hall at all like you usually do during the night at a hotel. I would stay here again without question.

The Nines really had a lot of character. The location is great...right in the heart of downtown Portland and the LIght Rail stops right across the street from the Nines (we rode the Red Line train from the airport--only $2.30 each).

The room was really nice. It is an older building that they updated to a somewhat modern decor, but also kept older characteristics. The bed was very comfortable. The only complaint is that most rooms don't have bathtubs. Ours did, but it was very small and shallow. Most hotels in downtown Portland don't have pools/hot tubs, so I can't really complain about that.

We really enjoyed the club/executive lounge--good wine, classy lounge area, and good snacks. Will definitely be back in the future.

I've stayed here for nine days in club floor combining a conference and weekend vacation. After staying in various top hotels around the world, I must admit the nines became one of my favorites. The rooms are beautiful. The location in great and central. The staff is amazingly welcoming and responsive. If you enjoy elegant yet minimalistic design combined with superior service - this place is for you. Warmly recommended. And next time I'll be in Portland, I will be going back there.

We stayed at the Nines in Portland from May 11-15 and had a perfect stay. Here are a few observations.
Location: Location, location, location......was perfect. A short 1/2 block walk from the Tri-Met Station at Pioneer Square direct from the airport. Absolutely perfect spot for short walks to any downtown attraction or a hop on the Tri-Met in the "Free Zone"
Room: Not overly spacious (crapped actually) but functional for sleeping. All in all the furnishings and bed were very nice. No bathtub. We had an courtyard facing room which was quieter than the outside facing room but with a trade off of not being able to see the sky or outside weather.
Fitness Room: Absolutely perfect. Plenty of treadmills, elliptical, and stair machines of good quality. Free weights and the most popular machines. One nicety was cold moist towels for your after workout refreshment. One of the best fitness rooms we have seen.
Value: Competition must be high because the room rates were very reasonable for this caliber of hotel.
Food: Destination Lounge on the top floor was very "cool" and served some delectable Tapas style entrées that were very good. You can sit outside in one of two lounges and have a wonderful evening view of Portland and the sunset. We were there for a business function and I have to comment that the food served at each of our events was sensational for banquet style setting.

Portland is a fantastic walking city. Our favorite places that we never miss on our trip are: Jakes Crawfish (the original), Veritable Quandary, Kells Irish Pub, Voodoo Donuts, and the river walk.

We will return to the Nines the next time in Portland.
