We stayed at the Heron Haus last July and just loved this B&B: The public spaces were beautiful, warm, and filled with light; the decor was elegant and eclectic; breakfast in the gorgeous dining room was a civilized affair; and the location within walking distances to the trendy NW 22nd and 23rd (& to Saint Honore bakery) was so much fun! And driving up that curving driveway made us feel like we were coming into an exclusive and private residence: we were, since this B&B is typical of the homes of the "beautiful" and old-moneyed people of Portland.
One probably does not need a car to stay here if one just needs access to downtown Portland as there are bus & tram stops nearby.
We stayed at Heron Haus while it was under the previous ownership, and we actually liked her respecting our independence, but it sounds like the current owner can only make this B&B even more enjoyable.
