“Great place to stay in Portland!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013 via mobile

My daughter and I came for the weekend. I wanted to take her away for her 15th bday.
The place was great, especially because I got a smokin deal off Groupon!

The place was quaint and felt like home. It was very modern with that awesome Portland hipster vibe.

I will list the Pros vs Cons, but we would not hesitate to return! It was a great stay all in all.

Pro
*Great Location
*Beautiful river view
*Super comfy beds
*Amazingly friendly and helpful staff
*Modern and clean
*Directly on the Max line
*Close to everything
*IPOD player and Iphone Charger with soothing sounds to drown out street noise
*Eggs Benedict and Grand Marnier French Toast was THE BOMB

Cons
*No thermostat (our room was upwards of 90 degrees...personally i like it warm being from the south, but needed it cooler in the evening to sleep. Even with the windows open, it was still HOT)
*Parking $26 (park on street for free most hours during weekends or in UPARK across street) and the garage is GHETTO. I was scared to walk alone at night in there
*The shower is not enclosed and I really needed to clear my sinus from how stuffy it was in the room...no way possible to steam it up in there
*obnoxiously loud street noise
*There was an event on the waterfront (unrelated to hotel) and even though it was for an amazing cause, they started the party music at 645am on our last morning to sleep in :(
*No microwave in room
*Very small room

“Great Getaway! Except...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

I would have rated this hotel even higher, but along with many other reviewers the truth about this hotel being noisy is true. I am 8 months pregnant and requested a quiet room months in advance. However, upon check-in they recommended upgraded us to a "river room" in lieu of our "city view" room as a more quiet option. Unfortunately, the road traffic and the train woke me several times a night. The beds were super comfy, the restaurant amazing, the location superb and the service was stellar (except for the persistent housekeeping crew who knocked 3 times in 1.5 hours). All in all for the price it was amazing and would stay again- just not when I am hoping to get a good night's sleep.

Room Tip: I think the "Garden View" rooms are the quietest, but the "River View" is beauti...

“You might want to consider their "Presidential" suite sometime”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

The hotel is well located in the downtown Pearl district and is very accessible to Portland’s great public transit. The property is well kept and the staff was helpful and professional. Their food in the H2O Bistro is good and reasonable priced. There are numerous top notch restaurants within walking distance.

We have stayed several times in the past in their standard rooms. They are nice but similar to most higher-end properties.

This visit, we stayed in their Presidential Suite which is their only suite. Located on the 2nd floor, it is very roomy and comfortable. It provides a large bathroom with walk-in shower. It is on par with a Hyatt Grand junior or executive suite. There is no view as it looks over the parking area and neighboring buildings.

The only downside is being adjacent to the conference room. Although reasonable noise suppressed, there was a birthday party for a 2 year old complete with bouncy castle during our stay. Sugar induced, high pitch squeals from a pack of reviling two years were no match for the noise barrier. Unfortunately, the party spilled out to the hallways with parent encouraged toddler races. I am pleased to report that there was no wagering involved.

I would think most conference room functions would be of minimal impact on relaxation in the Suite. The additional expense for the suite would be worth it.

“They gave me the key for the wrong room!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

I was in Portland for a conferance and stayed at this hotel. As soon as I checked in, they gave me the key & room number. So I proceeded to the room & opened the door. To my shock, there was someone in the room and a man in the shower. We ran to the front desk to sort this out & all they did was laugh & give me the key to another room (this time empty). No apologies! The whole week I stayed there I was worried someone would walk in on me. This incident has put me off from staying here again.
The room was comfortable and clean. The bed was soft and nice. I also like the view of the park from the room. The hotel is located in a nice area walking distance from most places.

“Wonderful stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

Booked this hotel through Groupon. It was a great stay. Clean, comfy room with a beautiful view of Mt Hood, the river and bike path. Everyone working here was helpful and friendly. Very easy to get to everything we wanted to see. My only complaint were noisy neighbors at 2 am, which is not the hotel's fault, but the rude people staying in the hotel. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Riverside had a wonderful view.
