“Excellent stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2014

What a great stay! Room (we had a King corner suite) was enormous and very comfortable. For such a large and busy hotel we heard no noise at all. The room was light and airy with big windows overlooking the town. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. Complimentary drinks in the evening were lovely too. All in all, can't fault this hotel. Great for families and for a base for exploring Portland.

This is our 4th stay at this location. It's an old school Embassy Suites, in the heart of downtown Portland. Great lobby with one of the better breakfast selections in the lower legal. Don't miss Voodo donuts right around the corner. Can't remember the name but right next door is a little place with a bar in front that's serves great thin crust pizzas. Foodies will love Portland.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are all we have used. Large suites.

The staff is courteous and genuinely takes an interest in the guests needs. It's quite possible that this is the case because of the West Coast(nicer people)!
The property has three elevators (or lifts if you are british :D), which are sufficient to not make you wait to go up or down.
Anyhow, ideal for families due to the suite concept and centrally located. Rooms were clean and the bathroom amenities were nice. The bathtub, however, did not drain very well and water would stand, leaving you with the feeling of popping out as soon as you were done showering.
Lets see, the conference rooms were well equipped and ventilated. I had an EasyPower World conference rate and still felt that it was expensive, but well worth the price paid for.
The parking was convenient to find with a sign board and was easy to get in and get out. The elevator, however, in the parking lot was an old hydraulic one so it took its sweet time in operating. It costs 30 USD/day to park, however, in my case the conference had negotiated complimentary parking.
I didn't have a chance to sample the restaurant food in the restaurant setting, however, the catering was well done and well organized.
Overall, its a great place for families who can afford to pay the premium.

Room Tip: ask for higher floors. they have three elevators so you won't get bogged down waiting to go up o...

Thank you for the kind comments, Omerl, and I will pass them on to all the departments mentioned. I am glad the conference was a success! I understand about the elevator in the garage and I hope it didn’t cause too much of an issue. We look forward to seeing you again at the next EasyPower event and have a great rest of your summer!

The positives of the hotel were as follows - staff (front desk and concierge) were very helpful, room was spacious, facilities were clean, breakfast options were good (could eat healthy if you want) and the restaurant Portland Prime (though not owned by the hotel).

The negatives - the parking garage was difficult to maneuver in as it was very cramped, the workout facility was very small and had little equipment and the area around the hotel seemed to have a lot of police activity.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel if you want to stay downtown but I didn't feel safe walking around outside the hotel. However, to be fair. there were not many places in downtown Portland that I felt safe.

Loved that this Embassy used the historic foundation of this building to make it a unique property. Gorgeous inside, spacious rooms and the usual Embassy perks of breakfast and evening reception. Very helpful and friendly staff!

We used Hilton honor points for this stay- they upgraded our room to a suite- very nice, but too much of a room for me... with a board room table and 8 chairs... and upstairs loft bedroom... all very nice. The view wasn't great, just a downtown street view. We were only there for one night, easy for walking around town and nice and close to the river walk. Parking was interesting with the one way streets - and a bit expensive, but that's downtown for you! Can't complain about this place with its morning breakfasts ... all good.

I stayed here for a conference. I was pleasantly surprised that this wasn't a typical Embassy Suites. Although the hotel is older, it has tons of character and in a good way. I was fortunate to have a corner room with somewhat of a view. I could easily keep track of the line at Voodoo doughnuts! Other than that, I can't imagine there is a view of anything worthwhile after walking around the block. That's the nature of downtown when you're not the tallest building. The rooms are tastefully done and mimic the character and decor that greets you in the hotel lobby. Bathrooms were a great size and quite spacious - really up to date, and there was no popcorn on the ceiling. Breakfast was wonderful and the meeting space adequate. Overall, I was surprised that I really liked my room accommodations. The hotel has been well maintained and is in a great location for walking around the town.

Room Tip: Try to get an exterior corner. I can't imagine just looking into another room.

I am so pleased to hear we were able to “surprise” you, Ramona! We do have the unique pleasure to be the Multnomah Hotel which opened in 1912 and, as you stated, has seen the town grow around it. Thank you for staying with us and I hope you will come back soon so we may continue to WOW and surprise you!
