“Lovely Grand Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

No problem with the noise. But I had one of the mezzanine suites. Perhaps they have more sound proofing. I love the high ceilings. The bedroom is elevated rather than in a separate room, so those with children may want more privacy. I loved the huge table for spreading out items on. It would also be great for a business meeting. Staff was absolutely top notch. This is my go to hotel when I am in Portland. We walked to and from the Keller Auditorium. Breakfast was super, egg white omelet. Yummy.

Room Tip: Ask for the mezzanine floor or a room on the eight floor with a view of the mountains.

Loved everything about this hotel. People, eating, and the feeling of being downtown and really not feeling like it. Very comfortable. And, of course we were next to Voodoo Doughnut which is great, but you have to watch to plan your visit when the line isn't so long!

From the beautiful lobby to the complimentary happy hour to the included breakfast to the spacious rooms, staying here is always a delight. The service is great, as is the location. When I am working in this part of Portland, the Embassy Suites is always my first choice.

We were greeted into the beautiful lobby by extremely friendly hosts. Then we found out about the complimentary happy hour and were blown away. We travel and stay in many hotels and you can't get the value for the money like we did here.

Clean, comfortable hotel that I would highly recommend. Great location, convenient to many downtown locations, including dining, the convention center, and just a short walk from the MAX trains. Staff was friendly and eager to help.

Great location in downtown Portland. Great, older architecture. Bed was a little soft but linens were very comfortable. Only drawback was we had a small bedroom with a separate living room which seemed odd. People with kids might appreciate have a different area for them but we would have appreciated having a bigger bedroom.
They have a government rate which made it much more affordable to stay in the heart of things. Also there is a public parking garage right across the street which is cheaper than parking with the hotel.
The downstairs bar did not have jazz like we thought but maybe because we went at the end of the night and it had finished up earlier.

We had a very pleasant two-night stay in a hotel transformed from a classic into one that offers what we expect from Hilton properties. The location was very convenient – directly across the street from our car rental agency – and within reasonable walking distance from the Amtrak station and to the sights we had chosen – Portland Art Museum, Powell's City of Books, Pioneer Place, and stops along the MAX Light Rail line. Several good restaurants (reviewed elsewhere) were also nearby.

The hotel lobby was most of the ground floor with a bit of the old-time feel. Every time we approached the desk, valets, or any staff we were greeted politely and served appropriately. The included breakfast was satisfactory though one had to look around to find all the stations. The beds not as firm as we would like but the suite was quiet. The room was clean.

Some might be put off by some nearby streets that were slightly seedy, but no one pestered us for handouts. There was no discomfort walking in any direction from the hotel during the day. Normal big-city good sense is advised for venturing out later. Bottom line: would definitely stay here on a return trip.
