“great location in downtown Portland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2014

We chose this hotel for it's location downtown, proximity to the tram line and the special it had on free parking. In Portland we prefer to park the car and walk to take transit and this hotel is perfectly located for this. The rooms were nicely appointed and clean. The lobby was open and welcoming and always had people lounging and enjoying themselves. The Concierge was really helpful and full of great suggestions. We will stay again.

I was in Portland to do some work at Portland State University and this lovely rehabbed Travel Lodge (seriously!) was practically on campus and close to all the amazing downtown Portland sites and fabulous restaurants. My room was beautifully appointed with a great bed and beautiful linens. the lobby and outdoor plaza area off the street have an amazing wall garden and wonderful outdoor fire pits where the restaurant serves drinks and tasty treats. The staff was pleasant and helpful and the lobby was a fun place to hang out. There is a terrific restaurant on sight! What was not to like?

Convenient location in downtown Portland. I was travelling to Portland for business. My room was nice and clean. The only drawback is it was facing the outdoor area of the restaurant so it could be noisy sometimes. Would definitely stay there again.

PrinceofRepulseBay,

Thank you for choosing Hotel Modera and for taking the time to review your recent stay. I’m very happy that you found our location convenient and your guestroom to your liking. I would like to recommend on your next visit that you reserve one of our Premier Suites. They are located on the top three floors of the hotel and are have views of downtown. While some people prefer the Garden View rooms, it sounds like you would prefer a City View room that does not overlook our beautiful patio, garden, and living wall. We hope to see you again on your next visit to Portland!

This was a fine hotel with a great location in downtown Portland. They seem to have actually thought about guest's comfort and the look was sleek and clean. A nice place to come back to after a busy day. It suggests comfort without high maintenance on the part of guests.

We visited Portland on Mothers Day weekend to see the Blazers play and enjoy a relaxing time with my wife on her day. Jonny, concierge, was extremely helpful in giving directions to the game, spots to see around town and a very good recommendation for dinner at Raven and Rose. It was outstanding. Also enjoyed a late dessert at the hotel, cheesecake on the terrace, by the fire with other guests who seemed to enjoy the property as much we we did. What a clean, friendly city and a wonderful hotel to spend our time while visiting. Not one single employee failed in greeting or thanking us for being guests.
Amazing service!!!

This was a quick overnight get away for my husband's bday. Front desk was very friendly and hopeful, room was small, but for the money a great deal. Clean and comfy. The room as a bit noisy with the window opened, so we closed it. Location was fine for getting around.

And we enjoyed the bar, and had brunch in the morning which was tasty and would for sure return....very nice.

This is a nice hotel in a good location, especially for PSU families. The restaurant is good, the staff is friendly. But this is my second stay here. Both visits were when the weather in Portland was in the 70s or 80s. The room never cooled off. The staff always had the same excuse--"there's something wrong today. Best to turn the system off." After two nights, it was obvious that the "AC" was nothing more than a fan blowing in outside air. The hallways were cooler as was the lobby. Obviously, the owners are banking on PDX weather for cooling. I felt really ripped off.

HBOnPablo,

Thank you for the repeat business! I am pleased you found our proximity to PSU to be favorable. There is no other four star hotel that is closer to Portland State. I’m also happy to hear that both of your visits to Portland were during times of beautiful and warm weather! We don’t have many this time of year, but we appreciate all the warm weather and sunshine we receive!
