Just visited Portland (we do quite often) and stayed at the Hotel Modera. Love this hotel: great service, modern decor combined with real comfort. The staff is extremely service oriented (Where do you find such great employees or do you build them?). Front desk staff were happy to find us a spot where we could watch the Husky game nearby and gave us walking directions and the valets and bell staff were very accommodating. A big focus for this trip was celebrating the beginning of the holiday season and getting a bit of no-tax shopping done (sales, too) so the hotel was the perfect location from which to launch our city explorations (Portland's tree lighting ceremony at Pioneer Square/Plaza complete with lots of families, music, lights followed by bargain shopping at the variety of shops nearby). Also, in addition to the upscale Nel Centro Restaurant, there are lots of small "in and out" eating spots close by. We plan to return to Hotel Modera, our favorite Portland destination, to celebrate the New Year.

Checked in, went up to have one beer and put a few craft beers in the small fridge and headed right over to Nel Centro (the restaurant downstairs) for a fabulous dinner.

Ordered breakfast from the impressively timely room service – price was spot-on for any local restaurant AND was delicious WE AND GOT TO EAT IT ON THE AMAZING KING BED.

Highly recommend Hotel Modera for all of the obvious reasons plus it is designed with such an eye for detail and beautiful simplicity.

Hotel Modera is a contemporary, mid-century inspired, boutique hotel in the heart of Portland. From the moment you drive up under the covered driveway, you are welcomed by an exceptionally friendly, helpful, and professional staff. The elegant lobby, corridors and rooms display thoughtfully, selected contemporary art. The rooms and baths continue with the contemporary style of clean, minimal lines, from the bedding and furniture to the bath hardware and white marble. VERY nice! The courtyard garden was quiet and serenely beautiful with its linear layout, fern covered rock wall, and glass covered walkway. If it were not for the damp, cool weather during our November stay, we would have sat outside in the garden to enjoy the cozy, elongated fire pits in the evening. We did not have an opportunity to try the on-site restaurant, Nel Centro, but it looked fabulous and blended seamlessly with the look of Hotel Modera. The only parking on-site was valet and pricey, but we accepted the fact that parking is a challenge in the city and it was super convenient. Overall, Hotel Modera’s ambience and attentive staff provided a very memorable experience. This was my husband’s second stay and my first. I was totally impressed. We will definitely be back!
