“Dont Miss It!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2008

What an amazing restaurant! Fabulous food, great value. Communal dining is lots of fun. A bit out of the way if you are staying downtown (expect a 20.00 cab fare!) but worth every bit. We will defintely be going back there, as she changes the menu every week.

“One of the Best Meals Ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2008

We had seen the chef in a spotlight in Bon Appetit and decided to make a reservation while we were in town. We were a little concerned about communal dining, but had nothing to worry about. The people at our table were great and the wait staff was second to none. We chose the wine option and all coarses. The food was absolutely wonderfull and original. The wines perfectly complimented each coarse. We are only disappointed we live on the other side of the country and will have to wait for our next visit.

“This was one of the best meals of my life”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2008

If i could give Beast six or seven stars, I would happily do so. The food was absolutely stunning, throughout the six courses, and the half glasses of wine with each course (selected by the restaurant) were perfectly chosen. I could ramble on for many minutes about this place but would instead urge you all to go there. This ranks as one of the best three meals I've ever eaten in a restaurant.

“Bad Service and Nasty Attitudes Ruined the Night”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2008

My friends and I had a great dinner--up until the last few minutes, and those minutes insured that we will never go back. We had reservations for the first seating. At first there were long delays between courses, and the other parties at our communal table received their dishes long before we did. The end was a rush, rush, rush with the final courses coming too fast, staff speeding around clearing tables and the check delivered before we had finished our dessert.

We had been charged several dollars too much for each of our meals. We got the attention of Naomi, who didn't even come over and and look at the check, just insisted from across the room that the charges were correct. When we convinced her there had been a mistake, she refused to rerun the charge cards, insisting that we make up the overcharges by reducing our tips. Which of course were significantly below what they would have been had we been treated graciously.

We left at 9:00 and the 8:30 seating was still standing around waiting to be seated.

While the food is inventive, a large part of any dining experience is the service. Naomi has been around long enough to figure out the timing of an evening like this, but if some unidentified disaster occurred that lead to the timing problems, there is still no excuse for the rude treatment. Those are the times when customer service counts the most.

One person in our party took the time to send a polite letter describing our experience, but that letter went unanswered. I'd suggest you head to Sel Gris or Toro Bravo where BOTH the food and the service are outstanding.
