“Very nice staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

My husband and I stayed here a couple of weekends ago the night before we ran a half marathon in Portland. The front manager Calla was so nice! She was very pleasant at check-in. We asked if we could be in a room close to our family and she was more than willing to do that. She also had a little bag of water, snacks and a hand written card for us wishing us good luck in the race. I was never expecting anything like that from a chain hotel in a big city. The room was clean and comfy, we did not have any problems with noise, etc.. We would definitely stay here again!!

The price is not bad and we were able to walk easily across the bridge into town for dinner.

Excellent happy hour on the patio with delightful wait staff. Chris, our bartender, was a warm and wonderful young man. We really enjoyed getting to know him. Chris at the front desk gave us wonderful dinner suggestions that were within walking distance of the hotel. Island, our waitress in Charley's restaurant, was so attentive and one of the most personable waitresses we've ever had. The breakfast buffet was quite good, offering an extensive selection of items ranging from various pastries, cereals, fresh fruits, scrambled eggs, chicken apple sausage, bacon, oatmeal, yogurts, and an omelet station. Our room was quite comfortable. Location was great for using the public transportation system. There's a great shopping mall within a couple of blocks. The hotel was nice but it was definitely the people that made our stay a memorable experience!

The hotel was nice and we enjoyed our stay. There are many eating options within walking distance. It was an easy walk to the convention center. The beds were comfortable and the room was well lit. It was raining when we were going to the convention center and they had umbrellas for us to use which was very nice.

The first clerk that we spoke with was rude, but all of the rest were very nice. The parking lot was very small and especially crowded the first night.

Nice hotel in a great location, not only for conventions, but also for leisure, especially if you use the excellent public transport of Portland.

The pool is small, ok for kids, but not for doing laps, gym is adequate,

The personnel is friendly

Free wifi is really slow, almost unusable at times.

Have stayed in two of the Portland area Marriott s and researched the others carefully for my weekend trip there with my 5 year old grandchild. They have a salt water pool that is very close to the elevators, no jacuzzi but we did not miss it and a wonderful on site restaurant for lunch and dinner as well as for room service. Delicious mac cheese (her favorite) with huge portions on the kids menu! Very close to many other fast food restaurants (walking distance) and also to the transit. I chose it because we visited OMSI, the Oregon Zoo and the Children's Museum (which was fantastic). The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is geared for an older child.

Room Tip: Several people said away from the street, but I overlooked the parking lot near the street and was n...

Great facility with friendly front line staff. The location is very good, being just a block from the Rose Garden Arena and the Convention Centre, and a quick train ride to downtown (all within the free fare zone). The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was definitely one of the more extensive as far as hotel breakfasts go - three or four different pastries/baked items, fresh fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, cereals, bagels, bread, biscuits, eggs, sausages, bacon, waffles and an omelette station with someone cooking them to order for you. Drinks were also included with breakfast. Aly and Island at Charlies in house resturant were the highlight of my stay.

Room Tip: Best breafkast in town. Say hi to Aly and Island

We had a two night stay with our LivingSocial coupon. The room was spacious and clean with all the amenities. The Lounge was inviting with good prices for happy hour. We enjoyed a glass of wine on the patio. Charley's restaurant served great food and was very convenient for us. The best part about this hotel is the friendly and helpful staff. Each one had a smile on their face and were willing to offer any help. We took advantage of the free shuttle to get into downtown Portland, an excellent service! Thank you!
