The Hotel is ok in a good location to visit Portland. Some rooms are noisy due to proximity to the highway. The breakfast is a plus for the family. I don’t know if we will go back again in the future.

Not the best area.
People at the bus stop across the wall were using the "outdoor restroom" in plain sight of our window. Our parking space in front of our room was occupied by a Ben & Jerry's delivery truck that seemed to have taken up permanent residence, judging from the fact that he washed it out in the Hotel parking lot at night and placed red codes in the parking spaces when he left. I asked for a cot, but having "none left" I ended up sleeping on the floor. Quite a few people living out of their vans across from unit #14. Not a good experience.

Room Tip: Avoid the street by unit 1400

Stayed one night in studio using Marriott Anniversary Certificate. Free parking which is very nice - as the downtown Marriotts are not free. Unit basic, clean and equipped with full kitchen, making it convenient to prep my leftovers from Dar Essalam. Free hot/continental breakfast available - eat in or take to room/outing; staff kept availability flowing. By Hwy 84, so quick to get to Columbia River Gorge Waterfalls and other sights. One or two blocks away are Lloyds Shopping Center and lightrail. 5-10 minute ride to Pioneer Square/downtown by lightrail depending on drop off - too bad the metro free zone ended. Lightrail takes you directly to airport, too - very convenient. I would stay here again. Giving RI a 4 because of no elevators to second or third levels; can be a burden if you have heavy load.

Room Tip: No elevators to second or third floors. Request your room accordingly.

We stayed here recently having a 2 bedroom suite which was ideal for a family of 4. Hubby and I had the larger room in the loft with the larger bed though smaller bathroom. The girls had the other bedroom downstairs which suited them perfectly. The suite had a living room area as well as a equipped kitchen if you wanted to cook. Free breakfast was included and this had a good choice of items, you even were provided with portable boxes which you could take some stuff for lunch if you felt so inclined. I seen a few people doing this, taking fruit, yogurt, and muffins etc. The hotel was in a good location, there is a large shopping centre across the road with Macey, Nordstrom etc as well as an Applebee's within walking distance. We found the place excellent at a reasonable cost & were given a later check out to 1.30 on our last day. Only negative is there are no lifts and as we were on the 3rd floor this was a bit of a pain. Staff did offer to help assist us with our bags which was kind, infact all staff we came in contact with were very pleasant. The refurbishments are now at the tail end, they were doing the Fitness suite when we were there so it was not an issue. Suited us perfectly as a family and would look out for Residence Marriots in the future.

Room Tip: Ask for lower floor if you have lots of luggage.

My favorite aspect of a two night stay were the handsome new guestroom furnishings. They made up for the limited natural light and fairly banal architecture.

Our ground floor studio unit had a sofa bed couch facing a wood burning fireplace, and there was enough furniture to get comfortable in many ways, including a work desk and a dining table at the large kitchen. Everything seemed rather new, of good quality, and attractive.

I found the bathroom to be small, in contrast to the large vanity space, and ample closets. It was quiet aside from some tolerable floor creaking from guests walking up above us. No freeway noise. The courtyard outdoors has a large table and was popular. Never used the outdoor pool, but it looked well maintained.

The complimentary breakfast was well presented but hot items were all pretty tasteless and bland, as was the coffee. I find this is true at about all motels. The dining space was newly furnished and redone with a contemporary flair. You might drive a few blocks to Grand Central Bakery for excellent breakfast or lunch, as an alternative.

Free parking was convenient, staff all seemed sharp and friendly. I paid $110 a night on Priceline bid. Tax added another whopping $24 per night. It was worth it, considering the options I saw at other hotels and had these advantages: 1) large unit size, 2)ease of in/out, 3)newish furnishings, 4)clean. I would return, especially if I could luck out with the rate again.

Room Tip: If daylight is important ask for a high room with southern exposure, as many face narrow dark outdoo...

Very large comfortable king bed suite. The bed was very comfortable along with the sofa. The layout of the room felt like you had your very own apartment - I could live there. Full size refrigerator and very well equipped kitchen with a large eating bar. The grounds were well maintained and the pool area was awesome. They serve a fabulous hot breakfast that is open until 9:30 am - which is nice for those of us that like to sleep in. We were pleasantly surprised with a free light dinner on Monday night - Chicken Alfredo, salad and wine, beer, or juices. All the staff was extremely helpful and very pleasant.

Room Tip: We were on the ground floor but would like to stay on the top floor next time.

It's a good location. Nearby to a mall and close to the freeway but not so close where traffic noise is an issue. It's in downtown area so it's within walking distance of other shops, business and restaurants. I would recommend a place to eat at the Broadway Grill a couple of blocks away.

Now here is why I rated the place so low. At a glance the place looks real nice but at a closer look, maintenance is lacking. There were cog webs outside our front door and you're sure to see a spider spinning web anywhere you looking on the landing. They were not monster spiders but they're still pretty good size. We only stayed one night so we did not make a big deal of it. However, there was a total of 8 of us in my family so we got 2 penthouse suites. Both penthouses were on the third floor and both had poorly working air conditioning units. We complained to front desks and they sent out maintenance. The maintenance guy told us that is just how the units are. It was 98 degree outside and our unit was 87-88 degree inside. Again we ended up staying only because it was one night and hopefully it get cooler at night. At night it did get cooler but not much. I'm a big fan of all Marriott properties but probably wouldn't stay here again, at least not get a penthouse loft. The air does not flow well. If there is a suggestion, I can make for the manager is to install ceiling fans for the loft or equipped each room with portable fans. Hopefully other style rooms has better air flow. Also there's no elevators to get to the third floor so pack light.

The interior of the room was clean and neat. The bed was comfortable and there was no outside noise. There is a free hot breakfast in the morning but it's not much of a spread. We didn't use the pool but it looks clean and enjoyable based on the number of guests out there. Clean towels were provided at the pool. Vanessa from the front desk did a good job trying to get us a room to check in. She called as promised when the room was ready.

Again, I'm a fan of Marriott. I find the staffs are always helpful and friendly and I wish I had more good things to say but I thought our stay here at this property fell a bit short of satisfaction.

Room Tip: Don't get the penthouse loft in the summer. No airflow in the loft and very hot.
