I stayed at this Hotel for I'm a Freelance Photographer and wanted a view of the Airplanes at PDX taking off and landing. The room I asked for facing the runways and the high foor was given to me. But wen I opened the window I could only take photos thru the screen I couldn't remove it Not a huge problem. But it would have been better if there was no screen in the window like in my H.I.E. room in Astoria OR. My room was a nice size with a King Size bed a sofa that looked old with dark colors and a cheap coffee table the TV was ok in size. My plan was to be at this Hotel only for a day with a late checkout? But my next day flight would not leave Portland Oregon until 10:10pm. I was very Hungry I skipped Lunch being I was up at Mt St Helens most of the day. I asked which hotel near the Hampton had FOOD. I was told the Sheraton did so I walked over to it. And ate an early Dnner when I opened the Menu my eyes got big. For the steak I got cost $29.95 the Bake Potato was $4.95 and Ice tea I forgot its price. I then had two scoops of ice cream and a cookie that came to $5.75 with an $8.00 tip meal was almost $50,00 dollars everything was good but I was looking to go away only spending half that. I wished the staff at my hotel would have told me about the Embassy Suites Hotel across the street. The next morning I went down to the front desk to ask about how late I could stay in my room I was told till 1:00pm I then asked if they could store a bag or two for me. They felt that was an Odd Question? I said if I couldn't get a later check out I would have to stay in there lobby till my flight then one clerk said I could stay another night for the rate of $69.00 dollars I said ok but when he tried to find that rate he couldn't but he then said I could have it for $99.00 better then the $139.00 for most Sunday Nights. I took that rate for I didn't have much of a choice. I wish this Hotel had some kind of rule when a guest has a late flight out that the rate could be Half of a full rate unless the guest doesn't checkout. I was able to relax and enjoy my last 7 hours in my room for the $99.00 dollars I did pay for. The shuttle service was good and so was the free breakfast. The front staff was good they just need to have a little bit more info about the Hotels around them. P.S. I was able to do my Laundry over at the Embassy Suites Hotel but to tell you the truth the Hampton Inn should have had machines also.
