“Beautiful Little Campground Tucked Away Behind Humbug Mtn.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2013

This is a great little campground! It's tucked behind Humbug Mtn - so it's sheltered from the ocean winds. Yet it's just a short walk to the beach. This location is very unique. As you drive down the coast from Port Orford, you'll see some of the most beautiful views of the Pacific - cliffs, rock pinnacles, blue water and gorgeous beaches. Humbug Mountain tumbles into the sea on one side and on the other is Hwy 101 and the park. The campground is sheltered from the wind (which is so nice). The setting beautiful - alongside Brush Creek. There are ferns, small waterfalls and lots of trees. The campground is always immaculate. A peaceful setting.

“A special place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

Sheltered from the wind and a peaceful setting. Camp near the creek and enjoy the sound of running water to put you to sleep. Easy access to the beach, but a bit of a walk if you camp at the east end of the park.

“Another great Oregon State Park/Campground”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

Tucked into a canyon next to Brush Creek it is sheltered from some of the coastal weather. Usually up to 10 degrees warmer than it is out on Cape Blanco (15 miles north). Great family campground and there is easy access to the beach. Hwy 101 noise is there, but it usually quiets down in the evening. Try to have a reservation during busy summer weekends - sites may be limited.

“climbing Humbug Mountain”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

This hike was a kedge for us, to motivate us to get into shape. The ascent was 1741 feet, which we managed pretty easily after all that. Since the view at the top is partially obscured by trees, make sure you take the steeper, shorter west trail when you go up, as there are some spectacular ocean views to the north.
