“Nice Bayview”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

Our annual trip down Oregon Coast and we went backto the hotel as the location is great - nice bayview and the room. We asked for the same room as last year and it was not available at first but then it became available. Another room that we saw first needed updating, very tired looking furniture. Rooms are owned by different owners so I guess it depends on the owner. We were very happy to have the same room as last year and write on the guest book- others loved it too. Thank you for taking good care of the room even though it was an economy studio, it felft very special.

Room Tip: If you don't like one room, ask for another.

First the bad. Room needed work. This was supposed to be a premium room, it was not. Large pieces of ceiling coming off. Towel rack falls apart if touched. toilet seat broke. The good would be the view of the bay, the private crabbing dock and kitchen was well equipped. I have stayed here many times, but this might be my last.

We just returned from our stay at the Embarcadero in Newport and it was wonderful. I did read many negative reviews about this place before hand, but almost all were folks that had stayed in one of the "economy" rooms. We stayed in one of the "specialty" rooms, called the "Sunset on the Bay". It was extremely nice. Very well kept and clean. It had a great full kitchen (with dishwasher), living room with flat screen TV (and DVD player!), and a separate bedroom which also had a TV. It was nicely decorated with wood and tile floors. Fantastic view of the bay out the back deck. The carpet in the bedroom was amazingly thick and soft. I actually slept pretty well since the bed was comfortable. The tub is nice and deep with bubble jets if you want to soak. It even has its own WiFi for that room that was great. The folks at the front desk were helpful and nice. The housekeeping was fantastic. The room is kept spotless and we got all fresh towels without asking. They even did our dishes! We even lucked out on the weather. It's hard to get a nice sunny day in April on the coast! It was worth the $229 per night. We will definately stay here if we want to spend a weekend in Newport again.

Room Tip: Do choose the specialty rooms. It's worth the extra money.

Dear Neenoid,

Thank you so much for your kind words. The Sunset On The Bay Specialty Suite is one of my favorite rooms as well. I am so glad to hear you enjoyed the many amenities we offer. The complimentary Wi-Fi is available to all of our hotel guests and incredible service is what we strive for on a daily basis. next time you visit I hope you make time to take one of our boats out on the bay or crab off of our private crab dock. We even offer a complimentary crab cooker for your convenience. Thank you again for the review and we sincerely look forward to your next visit.

We stayed two nights at the Embarcadero booking through out time share Vacation International. The room was very clean, townhouse style with views from both the main living areas and the master loft bedroom. Room was updated and very fresh. My only complaint would be the frying pan in the room was terrible to cook pancakes in, and I had to run out to Fred Meyer to buy a pan to cook in. There were two televisions, one in the living room had a dvd player. Two baths one on the upper level and one on the main level. There was a washer/dryer in the room, so bring yourself some laundry detergent. Pool is indoor and very pleasant, two hot tubs outside open to above so you can sit in the hot tub and be rained on!

If there is anything we needed, we only needed to pick up the phone and they had someone bring us what we needed.

5 minute walk to town, pleasant walk to town where Ripley's Believe it or not, wax museum and undersea gardens. Aquarium is only a 10 minute drive. Resort is on marina, beaches are a 10 minute drive.

The aquarium will offer you a discount if you have AAA. Also, military discounts offered.

I will definately stay here again.

Room Tip: Pool is near building C! So request a room in building C if you want to be right next to the pool. I...

Our location is minutes away from Newport’s historic bay front, where many shops, restaurants and charters are available. 4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

My wife and I spent a week in a 1 bedroom suite with a view overlooking the boats in the harbor in a tourist "off-week" - a week in mid-March. I'll divide this up between the good, the okay, and the bad. I finish up with thoughts on the area.
THE GOOD
It's apparent the owners are upgrading the place and I was pleased with the upgrade. It felt much like many of the newer vacation rentals we've stayed in previously. They were in the process of upgrading other rooms while we were there. In March, heat is a big deal, and the electric fireplace did an excellent job of taking off the late winter chill. The view of the harbor is very pretty. The bed was large and comfortable, and even though the bedroom was on the parking lot side of the building, was quiet until about 7:30 or 8.
THE OKAY
We ate in the restaurant the first night we were there, and the food was very good. We were the only ones in the place (can you say "off-season?") so the service was attentive. A visit on our last night was down a notch. The pool area is indoors and very popular with the kids. That can be good news or bad news depending on if you're traveling with kids. Two heated spas are open to the sky and sitting in a hot tub in a light sprinkle is wonderful. Watch out for the hand rails to the spas, they wobbled.Because of the season, we went to the pool dressed and changed in the changing room. There is no storage for your clothes or valuables. I think there are some places in the pool area, but they are not monitored. The exercise room had only paper towels for cleaning off equipment. They were disinfectant towels, so that helped things a bit.
THE BAD
The wireless internet connection was... sad. While the signal was adequate, the download rate was straight out of the 1990's... early 1990's. Additionally, the hotel is in a wireless telephone "challenged" area. We traveled with the intent of doing a little work in the morning before going off to play. We ended up spending time at Starbucks. We're used to vacation rentals that supply numerous barbecues. This place had one, and it was dirty. We avoided it, but others were all too happy to use it. On a nice day, the grill is a great place to hang out, but since we were there in late winter, the grill area was mostly wet and windy. I'm sure those traveling in August will have a different experience.
THE AREA
Our biggest challenge was finding enough days to eat at all the great places. Local Ocean Seafoods was always crowded, even when other restaurants along the bay were vacant. Fresh seafood was abundant all along the bay area. The hotel describes itself as within walking distance of these restaurants. That's stretching things a bit.

Room Tip: Building C is on the harbor and close to the spa, pool and exercise room.

My wife and I stayed at Embardadero in a 1 bedroom suite the 3rd week of March 2013. We are Vacation Internationale owners. We had a great stay, and would return to this resort anytime. Even though the VI check-in is off-site - it was no problem, and the VI and Embardadero staff were friendly and helpful. Loved the location of the resort too - being an easy walk into historic newport, to beaches, and the Yaquina Bay lighthouse. Resort amenities were also great - with pool, hot tub, and crabbing dock.
