If you like books, if you like meeting new people, if you like fun - do stay in this hotel! Really, it's not just a hotel - it's an EXPERIENCE! Each room is dedicated to a writer. Do choose a room in advance - choices are great! Jane Austin, Agatha Christie, Edgar Allen Poe, Herman Melville - even Tolkien and Dr. Seuss! My husband and I stayed in Edgar Allen Poe room... so you may imagine what it was! A word to the wise: it IS creepy and you have to be prepared for it! It has a pendulum, a brick wall behind a closet, two ravens, red walls - in short, after a complimentary glass of spiced wine at 10pm, the room did look scary! But it was so much fun! (other rooms are not scary at all - for example, Jane Austin room is all flowery and cute, so choose the one that suits you best).
The best experience of our stay was undoubtedly their famous dinner where you play "two truths and a lie". You might love it or you might hate it - depends on you. We loved it, because we love meeting new people and people we met were very interesting (two Bahaists from Arizona, two shrinks from Colorado, two Unionists from Connecticut and three fun schoolgirls from Portland). The game was very entertaining.
Next morning's complimentary breakfast was delicious and again we spent two hours just chatting away with people at our table. We did meet the owner - Goodie, a very smart and knowledgeable lady who is also a great listener.
