“Fog Covered”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2013

Far to foggy to really enjoy, but it was quite impressive in the fog. I'm not a huge fan of bridges, so I'm not your best judge.

“Beautiful from the outside, not much fun to cross”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

Most of the rivers on the Oregon coast have interesting bridges built in the 1930s. This is the biggest one. Great to view from the park on the north side, particularly early mornings. However crossing it is "meh". I like the Alsea bridge for that. For the most excitement, however, you need to go to Astoria.

“Graceful and elegant old bridge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

The Yaquina Bay Bridge is one of the McCullough bridges, completed in 1936 as part of the Highway 101 road project. We've lived in the area for many years and have been across it thousands of times but still think it is beautiful!

When driving across, notice that the lanes are the old narrow 10 foot lanes. All highway lanes used to be this width, but nearly all of them have been widened to the modern 12 foot width. So, there is not a lot of room for wide vehicles such as RVs and big trucks, especially when there are bikes. I wish all bicyclists would be courteous enough to walk their bikes across on the sidewalk! Sometimes they clog up the traffic and the cars have to crawl along at about 5 MPH :-(

On July 4th, people line the sidewalks of the bridge to watch the fireworks in South Beach. If you have a chance, walk below the bridge to see it from a completely different angle.

“Beautiful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

This is our favorite coastal Oregon bridge. On this trip we even found a walkway beneath the bridge! It was wonderful to photograph this beauty with the marine layer under the bridge and blue skies above it!

“ONE OF THOSE BRIDGES...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

These bridge is actually a duplicate in design to the numerous bridges that connect in Highway 101 from town to town driving by the Pacific Ocean...It has a great view of the aquarium where "Willy" the whale from the movie with its name is recuperating before flying the big fish to its natural habitat years ago...
