“Good value for the money!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2010

It was late and we were tired after exploring the OR coast from Astoria to Newport. We had stopped at the Rogue Ale Pub down by the harbor and they suggested the La Quinta up across the bridge (by their brewery coincidentally). I had called the Silver Surf Motel in Yachats as I had met the owner skiing at Mt. Bachelor the week before, but they did not answer the phone at 8pm nor did they call us back, so after a couple of pints and some pub grub at the Rogue Ale Pub, we decided to try La Quinta. We were very impressed with the young man at the front desk - very kind and helpful to 2 tired (and somewhat buzzed) old fools. He gave us a nice upgrade to a quiet room and with my AARP card, the rate was under $80 after tax! The breakfast was practically non-existent and the coffee was some of the worst I have ever had at any hotel/motel, but we had our own organic cereal and blueberries and milk, so we at least ate something we knew we liked and we knew was healthy. I have stayed at La Quinta's before and they are always a good value for your money!

Clean, quiet, close to everything you need. Free hot breakfast. Excellent clean and modern pool and hot tub. Exercise room a little sparse! 2 cardio machines, that was it. Otherwise perfect. Checkout the Rogue brewery, bar and family restaurant under the bridge on the same side of the river as the hotel Fantastic!

Spent a couple of nights here in Feb 2010 here. THe "No Smoking" room smelled faintly of smoke. Thought maybe I was smelling something that wasn't there. But it was confirmed when I saw a match stick on the floor the first morning. The room was in the middle of the building and on the first floor there are some heater vents that cycle all night long. Heard the hiss clearly thru the single pane windows. Sleep was hard to come by when every 15-20 minutes the hiss started and ended. ANd to top it off I really appreciated the washcloths in the folds of the shower curtain that the previous guests and the housekeeping staff had left just for me. Plus their computer was down.

This hotel was very nice to stay in! Very happy with everything..........the location was perfect, close to everything we needed. Having teenagers, the free internet was great, pool was wonderful (open 24 hrs), hot tub (open 24 hrs) was big and great, Rooms very clean, beds were comfortable, continental breakfast was good (biscuits and gravy, very good), and then the service was excellent!!! Anything we needed it was given, with no questions asked. We had an issue with the treadmill not working, the gentleman at the front desk really tried to fix it..........Gave him lots of points for trying! Still we had a bike, dry sauna and of course we stayed on the third floor, so the stairs worked good for the leg workout! Oh!! the front desk always had a smile and just treated us as if we were the only ones there staying...........Wonderful!!! The price you really can't beat! We will stay again, in fact were staying there again in November.......Can't wait!! Thank you!

There really is nothing special in the area hotelwise so I thought I'd stay in this motel (a chain with somewhat of a good reputation). The check-in was efficient and the worker was acceptably indifferent (I was tired). The room was a bit tired but had all the necessary elements although it was facing the parking lot and didn't have a sheer curtain so you were either completely on display or in a dark and dreary room with the blackout curtains closed. I really didn't want to know that the person who stayed in the room before me had long black hair and the breakfast, while satisfactory, didn't offer enough seating. I felt bad for all the people who were turned away due to this lack of seating though I was fortunate to get a table. All this was provided at an extremely low price so I'd have to give it an "average" I suppose.

We only stayed one night here, but wished we could have stayed longer. The staff was friendly and the room was very nice, not too small and clean. And we were charged NO FEE FOR OUR DOG!!! Had the most comfortable beds out of the four hotels we were in during this vacation. Free wireless high speed internet was our teenager's fave rave, though... Within walking distance of the Oregon Coast Aquarium. Cross the bridge and make a right and you're in the historic Bayfront where you can visit wonderful shops like Ripley's Believe it or Not, the Wax Works, and more. Not all A1 intertainment, but the kids will probably enjoy! We sat on the boardwalk and listened to the sea lions who were sunnng themselves on the rocks in the bay. The smell takes some getting used to, but it IS an ocean front property with lots of fish being processed folks... = c } Take some vicks to put under your nose if fishy smells bother you. I DO! Would definitely go back.

We recently stayed at The Newport branch of La Quinta hotels, we are on the whole fans of the La Quinta Brand, we've even signed up for the rewards program so we try to stay at one of their hotels whenever possible. This one was a cheap immitation of what the others have been. The lobby is small and cheap looking, and the room was not clean. We found mold all over the bathroom ceiling, and dog foot prints on the carpet (feces). Dog toys from the previous guests animals were still in the room and the overwhelming smell of some sort of odor killer bowled us over. The continental breakfast was decent, but unlike other La Quintas we've stayed at they close the doors anytime it's not the exact breakfast hours, so no going in for coffee or juice like the others we've stayed at. The front desk staff were friendly and sweet which is always nice. Unfortunately we won't go back, which is too bad.
