“Perfect for a long weekend with your wife”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

Three nights there recently. This place is really outstanding. Doesn't try to be a resort, so don't expect a lot of onsite activity options, but a perfect base for exploring wine country and even for a day excursion to the coast.

Room Tip: stay on the 4th floor and get a north side room for a view of the vineyard, or the south side for a...

Thank you for your review. It's always a pleasure to receive a review with high marks - it's an indicator we're headed in the right direction. We enjoyed your description, and think it's apt - instead of trying to tell our guests what we think they should do, we are simply available to help craft any and every type of experience one might want for their weekend. With so much to do, it would be difficult for us to pick! =)

Our guests are more entrepreneurial, and appreciate self-guiding their own weekends - we just help make them happen. There are so many wineries within a few minute drive, it's often we help set up private tastings. Outside of our our full service spa, our fitness center and pool & hot tub area (and sundeck), there are many options for activities around the Valley. From helicopter to hot air balloon rides, to museums and cultural activities, you can find something for just about everyone. There is also great hiking, and there's an incredible network of roads for cyclists. Let's not forget the Wine Tastings and Live Music in our Living Room. But more often than not, people end up just living in their comfortable rooms - relaxing and peaceful with fireplaces and oversized soaking tubs.

We offer many ways for people to decompress, have a quick romantic escape, or simply to use us as a home to explore the diverse wineries and other spots throughout the Willamette Valley. Whatever vacation you might enjoy, we assure you we can help create it, here.

Thank you for your review - with kind words such as yours, we are sure we will be able to reach more people, well into the future. Cheers, and be well!

Sincerely,
Michael | Online Concierge

We’ve managed to find occasions to stay at The Allison Inn several times in the last three years and this wonderful hotel never disappoints. It has remained warm and welcoming with a graciousness that seems to capture Oregon at its best. Wonderful rooms with views of vineyards and valleys, innovative dishes featuring local produce in Jory restaurant, original art by Northwest artists both inside and out, and a front desk staff so warm and welcoming one feels like a guest a country manor house. Makes me proud to be an Oregonian!

The Allison Inn is tucked away at the beginning of the wonderful Willamette Valley and over 200 vineyards!

The warmth, service, design, low key atmosphere are all things that are tough to find in the "Disneyland of Vineyards" (overcrowded Napa) .....

Cheers to your advice - we happen to agree! Of course, there are enough experiences in all the world's wine countries for all types, but we're particularly proud of the bucolic, natural, tranquil experience that is the Willamette Valley. Oregon's Wine Country is idyllic, and everything you might expect from a trip through France's Provencal vineyards and fields. It's pristine, and certainly not overrun with too many people. So we appreciate your review, and wholeheartedly concur. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts, and we hope to see you again. Be well!

Sincerely,

We stayed here for one night and wish it could have been longer. The property is beautifully kept and the rooms are extremely spacious and comfortable. We had a double queen on the main level with lovely views out to the vineyard beyond. Appreciated the complementary snacks in room (our daughter especially loved the chocolate covered hazelnuts!) as well as the water bottles thoughtfully placed on our nightstands by the turn-down service. We spent some lovely relaxing time at the pool, my partner had a massage at the classy spa (and said it was the best she had ever had as well as being extremely reasonably priced), and we enjoyed tasting wines at the Jory bar. The staff were friendly, forthcoming and down to earth (i.e. no canned "resort-speak", just genuine friendliness). Not an inexpensive stay, but we didn't feel "nickel and dimed to death" as with some other upscale hotels. Worth every penny.

I booked the Allison for my parents as a gift via the website and with hotel reservations staff. From the moment I called and explained the purpose of the weekend, that I wanted to make sure they didn't see the bill and explained that they had never stayed in a spa hotel, and would need extra attention so they wouldn't feel intimidated or overwhelmed, the staff, from hotel reservations, the concierge, the spa staff and the restaurant staff handled all my requests with kindness and ease. And then went the extra mile.
A day before they were to arrive, the spa staff called me and asked if they could upgrade my parents' spa appointments since they were coming to the Inn for an anniversary, of course I said yes!
In the middle of their stay, my mom sent me a text ecstatic about their spa experience and specifically mentioned how kind and helpful the staff were. They raved about the grounds, their room on the ground floor, looking out to the garden, walking through the grounds and having a wonderful dinner at the Jory and just resting and relaxing.
I couldn't have asked for a better experience for them. I highly, highly recommend the Allison.

Room Tip: Since I've stayed at the Allison before, I would recommend a room looking out to the garden, bec...

My wife and I stayed at the Allison four four nights. After five wonderful days hiking in Yosemite, we needed pampering and got it without even using the spa. We were impressed by the friendliness of the staff when we arrived, and the quality and appearance of our room with a private entrance to the spectacular gardens, and things got better from there. The food at the Jory restaurant is really good for both breakfast and dinner. We tried a couple of other very expensive restaurants in the area and regretted just not eating at the Inn. The grounds are a treat with quiet walking paths with interesting garden sculpture pieces amongst the flower beds and shrubs. We highly recommend working off the meals strolling the property. The Inn is ideally located near some great wineries and the staff at the Allison even got rid of the wine stains on my wife's white slacks.

Room Tip: Look for a garden level room at the back of the property.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

We stayed three nights for our Anniversary and felt that The Allison earned it's five stars. In fact, I would give it an extra 1/2 star if I could because of the sheer friendliness of the staff. Having been fortunate enough to stay at many fine hotels around the world, I can honestly say that I have never felt more at home and relaxed at a property of this level. Our positive experience began prior to our arrival as I had multiple communications with the Concierge staff and all of my needs were met and/or exceeded. Additionally, we had one exceptional experience that I believe demonstrates the level of care this property has for it's customers. Two days prior to arriving, I received a phone call from the staff. They informed me of the unfortunate death of a local icon and the hotel's conceptual inspiration. In light of the fact that a significant portion of the town of Newberg wanted to attend the services, the Allison had organized to hold a Saturday memorial at the hotel. I was being contacted to let me know of that they expected close to 5,000 people to descend upon the hotel beginning Saturday morning and the service would not end until around 4:00 PM that day. The hotel offered to cancel our booking if we desired and to assist us in getting alternative accommodations. We opted to keep our reservation and I must say that the handling of the entire event was smooth and did not create any issues for us as we were well informed in advance of the agenda and options to stay clear. Thanks to the Allison for a great stay. I look forward to visiting many times in the future.

Room Tip: Don't think that there is a bad room in the place. However, the bottom floor rooms in the North...
