“Airport convenience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2009

I drove up to Medford and met a friend flying in from L.A., so booked the Marriott for convenience. It is less than a mile from the airport, has airport shuttle service and staff that are friendly and helpful. The property is new and sparkling clean. Room rate was okay when compared with nearby properties. Pool area and exercise room were nice. The only bad thing I found were the bathroom towels which were very small, thin and made of cheap, rough material. Not what I would have expected to find at this property.

It is not brand new, but this hotel is quite comfortable. The lobby has a business center with computers for anyone to use. Very convenient. Not new and pristine, but not bad.

Most of the other brand name hotels within 50 miles are right on the freeway. This one is right on the Medford airport grounds. I took a chance that this location would be quieter than the others. The airport is not silent but neither is it a big issue. Fedex has morning arrivals there is also some commuter traffic but nothing to get upset about.

We made use of the laundry facilities and found them to be clean, in good repair and reasonably priced. There was even a laundry basket there, free for use by hotel patrons. A nice touch.

I had also considered staying at the newly constructed Candlewood Suites located just across the street. I took a walk over to take a look at what I was missing. New? Yes. But, this hotel offers rather spartan accommodations with cooking facilities and so is better suited to folks who intend to have extended stays and who intend to cook. Sorry I don't.

Stay at the Courtyard.

We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott in Medford as a part of a long road trip with young children (13 months and 5 years). We had originally made pre-scheduled arrangements for a different hotel located in the same area but found out ,upon arrival, that they did not have a pool (the pool was very important to the 5 year old and to us). We saw the Courtyard Marriott- called for availability and scored a room (King on the 1st floor -close to the pool- and the stairs!!). The change in hotels costs us about $60 for the upgrade of a pool and I would have to say it was worth it. The room was good size and had a fridge, coffee maker, good size bathroom, and a little sitting area with a love seat that pulls out to a bed. The pool served it's purpose and was refreshing to everyone especially after a long hot day of driving. The bed was probably the one of the best things about the hotel- so comfortable with great pillows. The hotel employees were pleasant but the team that assisted with the morning breakfast buffett were top notch. We arrived toward the end of their service and they were getting ready to close everything down but they didn't make us feel like we were putting them out by asking for more eggs, tea, etc... We really appreciated their service that morning. The breakfast buffett was good and filled us up for the next leg of our trip.
There were some slight cons to this hotel- there is no restaurant on site except for the morning breakfast buffett/breakfast menu. There are some fast food places down the road but not super close. Our room was located next to the stairs and we could hear everyone going up or coming down the stairs and also folks in the hallway going to the stairs or the door that leads outside.
The room was pricey but for those needing a hotel close to airport it was convenient and well appointed especially if you are looking for a pool.

There aren't a lot of terrific options in this overgrown town, but this newish "hotel" by the airport (odd location) was great for an overnight stay. The beds, however, aren't too comfy. What can I say? It's typically well-executed but personality-free Courtyard. It's clean and convenient, abuts a big open field so it has wide open valley views, and they recommended a great pizza place in town (Kaleidoscope Pizza) that was super tasty.

I stayed here for two nights for a business trip. This hotel is VERY convenient to the airport (the closest in fact). It is new, modern, VERY clean, with standard Courtyard amenities in rooms. What is true regarding "the hype" is that the staff are very friendly and will do their best to address your concerns! The computer and printer in the lobby is also nice to have access to.
Here are some problems I see with this hotel though (and there are only two):
1. There is NO restaurant on site! Some will deliver. But if you want to get out and sit down away from the hotel, you must drive a minimum of two MILES to the nearest ones! This hotel needs to either build a restaurant on premises, or encourage a national chain to set up shop on an adjacent lot. The hotels DOES serve a breakfast in the morning, that is actually pretty good for mass production food!
2. Internet connectivity hotel-wide was spotty. Both the wired and wireless connectivity kept going in and out throughout my stay, and I noticed seperate occassions where other guests were complaining of the same thing. I am certain that the staff were doing the best they could to get someone to look at it. But it was rather annoying in that I couldn't communicate via e-mail with my office.
Would I stay here again...probably. If not there, then the Fairfield Inn maybe. Was it flawless...no. It's very clean, new, within walking distance of the airport (just nothing else), and nice staff.

Comfortable stay with nice beds and bathroom area. Great for business travellers as it it right next to the airport and rooms are well equipped to get some work done while on the road.

Price was a bit high though - $150 a night is a bit steep for a room that could use some sound-proofing and has a mediocre television and no microwave or room service.

Signed up for the Marriott rewards card but the girl at the front desk couldn't really tell me anything about it.

Overall, price is the only drawback - probably will stay again as long as my Corp Office doesn't have heartburn about the price.

  • Liked — Location and bed was nice
  • Disliked — Price and lack of room service.

When I researched hotels in Medford, I found that there aren't many good ones. Either the location or the condition is not satisfactory.

But this one is excellent. It is in almost brand-new condition. The bed, furniture, carpet, and pretty much everything is new and clean. Very spacious. Ideal quiet location. Friendly staff. It has everything going to be one of the best hotel in town.

If one thing slightlg negative about the hotel is that the breakfast buffet is a bit on the expensive side. With pretty much the same menu as in a typical Residence Inn, which is complementary there, they charge nine dollars per person.

  • Liked — Location, cleaness, quality of amenities, furniture, carpet, bedding, etc, etc.
